I thought it was against 7-11 policy for employees to be armed.
Wonder if he'll get fired?

I have no idea about 7-11's policy but I would rather be unemployed than dead. Personally if it was my store I would promote the clerk for not only protecting himself, but my property also.

Really? The store clerk (victim) has to sweat out whether the DA is going to charge him? They should load him up on a fire truck and parade him down Atlantic Blvd as a hero.

Can we assume that anytime someone has the gonads enough to point a gun at you in a threatening way, such as was done here at the 7-11, you have the right to shoot first, and it would indeed be considered self defense, and therefore justified? (Also assuming you did not cause the incident yourself, yada yada, and all that.) If I am thinking wrong, please say so. I'm just believing that the law would not require you to wait to be shot first.

7-11 shooting

A million years ago I worked for Southland Corp (7-11) and the store manager showed me where the snubbie .38 was kept - told me to get a carry permit.

A year later the pistol was gone...in the shop to get a firing pin replaced.

That night I was robbed at shotgun-point.

Cops caught them about two miles away with my store receipt in the moneybag.

From then on I carried my own gun.

Both the manager and the Regional rep knew of this and had no complaints.

Law enforcement officers will not hesitate to fire on you first, if you point a firearm at them, even if it's a pellet gun, as was demonstrated in the news this morning, in Texas.

No shots were fired except the police. I don't even think the ability to escape was a factor. I think we should be able to defend ourslves with the same criteria.

I agree. Hopefully the time the DA is taking to consider pressing charges is just routine - "investigate" to make sure it was a justified shoot blah blah blah before officially deciding.

There's a 7/11 in Las Vegas on Fremont street (the extremely seeding end) that required all the employees to OC while on duty, this was 16yrs ago.
The night shift empolyees at that 7/11 nabbed a wanted armed robber one night, I would have loved to see the look on that guys face when 3 employees drew down on him.
