The news media is running from the city's name, White Settlement. There saying Ft. Worth. Like a lot of things in America, it was named by the Indians.

Somebody caught the livestream. Easily a half-dozen armed congregants advanced on the perp.

Sorry, I can’t see the format to post it properly. The church service was being streamed during the shooting. They tried to make it private but it is visible at GAB.ai

One man appeared to try to draw against the drop from pocket carry and lost.

Another armed church member killed the moving shooter with one shot from what appears to be a shade over 10 yards .

The other armed church members came in after the shooter was down.

Looks to me if the first person would have had more practice drawing and a willingness to shoot he had time to do so.

The shooter already had the shotgun aimed at him.
Granted that action beats reaction , but one has to have a decent draw to fire time.

Sadly the first guy that tried to draw was extremely slow and had no chance of beating the drop.
The shooter actually shot two people before the church member that shot him drew his firearm and fired.

The senior minister of a Texas church targeted by a shooter on Sunday said he is thankful that the government "allowed us the opportunity to protect ourselves."
I would bet that church is a 501(c)(3) tax exempt government controlled organization.

After more video analyst the defender started his draw before the shotgun was actual aimed at him.

Most likely he saw the bad guy start to uncover it and started his reaction but was not practiced enough to carry through.

And what does tax exempt have to do with anything.

Even if Law enforcement wasn't there to stop the shooting the response afterwards is critical just the same.

It has everything to do with it. Churches are not required to apply for tax exempt status, separation of church and state, 1st. Amendment. But when a church voluntarily apply for tax exempt status they agree not to address political issues from the pulpit or be politically active. There have been many 501(c)(3) churches shut down by the IRS for violating their tax exempt status. Churches that don't apply for 501(c)(3) status still maintain tax exempt status as a matter of law and they can preach politics from the pulpit without IRS interference.

Regrettably his draw was very slow. Not nearly fast enough to fire before he could be shot.
Had he carried at 3 o clock and remained seated he may have snuck his gun out unseen .

Wilson, 71, is running a campaign for county commissioner in Hood County. Hours after the December 29, 2019 shooting, Wilson shared his account of what happened on a Facebook page for his campaign, saying that he had “to take out an active shooter in church.”

We got to do something with these young whippersnappers with guns.

Which has what to do with Rich White who's draw was to slow and got him killed that I was talking about? Or the other security team member who was killed before Wilson acted?
Wilson had over 5 seconds to draw aim and fire at a distance of between 10 and 15 yards. Without a gun pointed at him.

It is laudable that Wilson stopped the shooter before he killed more people.
But he was in the best position of the 3 to do so, with more time to do it, without a shotgun aimed at him.

Not the only one that tried. Or have his life trying.

as paul harvey stated...now the rest of the story...quote

The man who fatally shot two people at a Texas church was ruled mentally incompetent to stand trial in 2012 and was repeatedly fed by the congregation before he grew angry because church officials refused to give him money, according to court records and the pastor.

The man who fatally shot two people at a Texas church was ruled mentally incompetent to stand trial in 2012 and was repeatedly fed by the congregation before he grew angry because church officials refused to give him money, according to court records and the pastor.

Authorities have said Kinnunen’s motive remains under investigation and they declined to comment on how he obtained the gun he used, although a Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives official said it had successfully traced the weapon.

In 2012, a district judge in Oklahoma ruled him mentally incompetent to stand trial and ordered him committed to a psychiatric facility for treatment. A forensic psychologist who examined him in 2012 for both cases wrote that “Kinnunen currently evidences signs that are consistent with a substantial mental illness and that meet the inpatient criteria of a ‘person requiring treatment.’”

Records show Kinnunen was found competent to stand trial in February 2013, however, though both criminal cases were ultimately reduced to misdemeanors, to which he pleaded guilty. unquote

"Revenge is a dish best served cold..."

so whomever denied the shooter the mental health he apparently desperately needed should be held accountable especially cuz their action or lack therein allowed the "system" to not get his criminal activities against his community entered into the FBI's vast ATF database.

ah yet another story from the naked city...
