Please refer to the state and any applicable laws that would apply.

In Washington, was told today, by a former cop, that you cannot drink while carrying AND that you can carry into any bar.

RCW 9.41.300 (1)(d) {cannot carry into a bar}
Cannot find any prohibition about drinking while carrying.

You must produce your license or other government issued identification when requested by an Officer
No, I only have to produce a driver's license, but that's only when operating a vehicle.

You must show an officer your weapons license upon request
No, no such authority exists in the GA Code; as a matter of fact the Code specifically prohibits officers from stopping carriers solely to determine if the carrier even has a license.

You cannot carry a firearm if you have been drinking.
No, you cannot discharge a firearm while intoxicated and even that has an exception for self-defense.

State Preemption means that the state can set a law and then the county can add to it and then the city/town can add to that.
No, state preemption means that ONLY the state legislature can make laws concerning almost every aspect of carrying a weapon with the exception of weapons discharge.

You don't need a weapons license to open carry.
No, carrying a handgun, or a knife with a blade of 5-inches or more requires a weapons license. I suspect this bit of misinformation is because of 16-11-128 being repealed and not being aware of it's incorporation into other GA code.

All the above were within the last two years based upon deputies and officers that have stopped in the shop.

I was walked off the property (outside) of the Wausau Downtown Airport by the Wausau Police during Balloon and Ribfest, while open carrying because it was Federal Property. Both Airports and special events are specifically mentioned under WI Act 35. There was no admission or locked gates, plus I can carry in an airport up to the security checkpoint, in WI. What part of the Wausau Downtown Airport is Federal Property? Answer: None.

To the good, they never did ask for ID, or "take" my firearm from me. To the bad, I surrendered my weapon willingly, into the police officers trunk of his cruiser so I could go back in with my wife. Alternative at the moment was to not go back in, or put weapon in car. I was on a motorcycle, with no secure storage. 20 minutes later he found me and said I was correct and was allowed to have my gun there. I would NOT do that again, hand over my firearm. It turned out ok, but I handled it incorrectly.

The next morning I called the Police Department and asked to talk to the highest ranking officer available. Got a Lieutenant. Was aware of situation. Said they handled that incorrectly and it was being dealt with. Did not get an apology. Had an long interesting conversation with him about open carry. This year I will go back and be OC again.

Was told that open carry was legal so long as no one "felt" threatened or intimidated by my carrying. I was then told I had to ID myself when asked by an officer while carrying. I told him he was wrong about the first part (RCW 9.41.270) and to please show me the RCW that required the later part. I was arrested over this and was what caused me to join OCDO in the first place.

This was by Snohomish County Sheriff Deputies while I was walking into Monroe.

Was also told by Monroe police that I could not walk within 1000' of a school while openly carrying also.

Worst Mis-Information By a Person in Authority

Eighth-grade. Consumer Math class.

It was a class to teach kids a little bit about managing your money. We learned about car loans and interest. We learned about mortgages and interest. (Very superficial level--this is eight grade.) Making a household budget. Etc.

Mixed in there was a massive piece of misinformation from the trusted person in authority--the teacher.

The mis-information? That banks receive Timmy's deposit, keep a small amount in the bank, and loan out the rest.

Only in the last ten years did I discover the mis-information. It's a half-truth. But, like most half-truths, the half that wasn't told was far worse.

First, let me focus on the mis-information.

The mis-information was that the bank keeps part of Timmy's deposit; and, loans out the rest. Lets say grandma enclosed a ten dollar bill in his birthday card with the admonition to save it for a rainy day. So, Timmy accompanies dad to the bank and deposits the ten dollars in his little savings account. According to the mis-information, the bank keeps one dollar in the bank, and loans out the other nine dollars. While my teacher didn't mention the ratio, neither did she mention something else: in any other business or transaction in the world, if you give two different people title to the same one piece of property you go to prison for fraud. My teacher didn't mention that. She didn't point out that by loaning nine dollars of Timmy's money to someone else, the bank was in fact committing fraud.

But, that is kinda beside the point, because the kid explanation is not the real explanation. The real explanation is far worse. The ratio is the same: nine to one. But, what the bank actually does is on a vastly higher plane. Instead of loaning out nine dollars of Timmy's deposit, the bank keeps all ten dollars and creates ninety dollars out of thin air. Same ratio, but a lot more opportunity to earn interest.

In times past, the issue was gold on deposit vs bank notes issued (think back to school days; recall the early 1800's when banks issued their own paper money). Banks printed up paper money and issued it as loans. Each bank note was redeemable on demand in gold according to the printing on the piece of paper money. But that was never totally true. If everybody came all at once to redeem their paper money for real gold coins (called a run on the bank), the bank would go under because they had actually issued far more paper money notes than they had gold to back it up. Paper checks were a great idea to bankers--you don't have to print paper money; just shuffle numbers around on a ledger. Coming forward in time, debit cards are even better--you don't even have to handle checks. Today, according to one report I saw about five years ago, only one-seventh of the "money" in America is paper cash and coin; the rest is just digits in computers.

Pretty big assertion on my part? Don't take my word for it. You can verify all this for yourself. Just start googling and reading. The banking system (the banks) do not deny it. In fact, they've invented a flowery vocabulary to get you to accept it. Take for example, one of the justifications for the establishment of the Federal Reserve. Part of their mission is to provide "elasticity" in the money supply. That's code for "print money out of thin air."

Why is this the worst mis-information I ever received? Because it covered up something massive. Money is just a commodity. Don't get me wrong, it is a special commodity because it can be used to purchase every other commodity. But, the laws of supply-and-demand still apply even to money. For example, the more there is of something, the less valuable it is. So, when banks create more and more money, it becomes worth less and less. That is to say, when you have more money chasing the same amount of goods, the price of the goods goes up/the value of the money goes down. When the value of the money goes down, that includes the money you already had in savings and investments.

This is huge economic datum that directly affects the purchasing power of my paycheck and my savings. And, if it has a huge affect on me, then the cumulative effect on everybody is also huge. Want to know why we had the Crash of '08? Very close to the fundamental explanation is that the central bank (The Federal Reserve) kept interest rates too low too long. Below that is the heart of the system. What would low interest rates have to do with anything? It was the ability of banks to create money out of thin air. Just ask yourself, "where did all the money for those home loans come from?" Its not like the rest of the economy was hyper-productive, creating huge amounts of wealth and money. It was banks creating the home loans out of thin air. Every recession since The Renaissance can be traced to banks creating money out of thin air.

My eight-grade teacher mis-informed me by giving me a wrong explanation. Nothing at all prevented her (or perhaps the school system) from giving me the correct initial datum--banks create money out of thin air. And, then building on that in coming school years.

Misinformation

From my Army Recruiter

When enlisting into the Army to provide for my family one of the options was to join as a Forward Observer (find the enemy/target and direct artillery on their asses). The recruiter told me that I would go out with the infantry. Sit up on a hill in my sleeping bag and call for artillery. Yes I did this on one occasion in three years. Humped 5 to 10 miles when the Infantry went out or our artillery battery went out.

Now I am a Army Nurse Corps officer and get to provide health care for the recruiters from time to time. Not from my sleeping bag.

Good to hear from you.

That is a topic that I have only really learned about in the last 10-13 years.

Fractional reserve banking, is what that is called.

And you are correct it is a massive fraud, also very unconstitutional for Congress to support, also not within the constitutional authority granded to Congress.

During Geo. Washington's administration, there was a movement to establish a national bank (quasi-central bank). Washington asked Alexander Hamilton (Secretary of the Treasury) and Thomas Jefferson (Secretary of State) for their opinions on the matter.

Hamilton wrote a reply amounting to several thousand words supporting the establishment of a central bank.

Jefferson demolished the whole argument with a few lines. (Paraphrase) While a national bank might be convenient, convenience is not "necessary". (See "necessary and proper" clause of constitution.) Jefferson explained: necessary means essential, cannot be done without. While a central bank might be convenient, it was not necessary.

Unfortunately, Washington took Hamilton's advice and signed into law the establishment of the first national (quasi-central) bank. It took a mighty effort on the part of Andrew Jackson to break the advantage of bankers by thwarting the re-charting of the national (central) bank.

See the minority report of the gold commission under Reagan for more information.

Army Recruiters (1961 and 1973): "If you serve for twenty years and retire, you will not only get a pension, you will get free medical and dental care for life for you and your dependents."

When I retired in 1991, I had to pay for Tricare Prime health insurance and could get dental treatment at a military facility only on a space-available basis. Naturally, there was never any space.

Same recruiters as above: "You only need to take one change of clothing and underwear with you as you will immediately be issued uniforms." The one in 1961 caused me to have to go two weeks in the sweltering heat of summertime Ft. Jackson, SC, washing my clothing in the bathroom sink. The one in 1973 got the offer of a gratuitous tail-whipping if he would just step outside. He declined.

While I am proud of my years of service, I would not do it again.

This was the grand bargain. VA got the Federal District, the Yankees got a national bank. During the Revolutionary War there was no Federal Government - it was just the states with ability to tax (the good old days), so each state financed itself and war efforts in various ways - some borrowed money, others levied taxes. When the War was over, some states owed money and others did not - the national bank assumed all of the loans and paid interest and principal based of Federal taxes/duties, so states that borrowed money got a benefit while those states that paid-as-you-went got screwed. The Federal Bank also assumed all of the Dutch borrowings. Not sure if it assumed the French loans, but that money effectively bankrupted France and was one contributing factor to the French Revolution (which Lafayette was involved in) (one of my favorite things never taught in school history - at Mount Vernon on the wall right next to the staircase - is the key to the Bastille prison that Lafayette sent to his father-figure - Geo Washington).

Bank of New York today is the private bank that Alexander Hamilton founded.

An aside was that Jane Adams, beloved and revered wife of our 2nd President, was buying state bonds at a discount, with insider knowledge from John (over in Holland) that if the Federal Bank was created, the bonds would be redeemed at 100% of value. Also she had John send to her in diplomatic pouches embargoed sewing needles she would sell for exorbitant prices in Boston.

George had a get-out-of-jail-free ticket if he ever visited France.

Jane Adams was an entrepreneur, not unlike John D., but on a smaller scale. John was her facilitator. They did feather and protect their own nest.

In the Air Force if it was too hot out they would just let us stay inside the air conditioned living quarters and goofy off. We did not uniforms until like the 10th day ... weeded out some folks (saved uncle sam some uniform $$$)...no one brought just the shirt off their backs to basic...we had dry cleaning service free. Steak and eggs from breakfast everyday, room service, etc.
