I've been gone for a while, life has been hectic and other things have kept me from the forum for quite some time. Today I logged in and found that I'm not the only one that's been absent.

We have issues here in Oregon. There is currently a confiscation initiative trying to get on the ballot among other issues.

Where is the activity?

What happened to all the posters I used to read?

I thought I'd have some serious catching up to do and re introductions to make.....I'm not pleasantly surprised.

Welcome back...

Oregonians & Washintonians who care, are probably reading and ranting about the injustices caused by their state’s citizen initiated anti firearm initiative(s) on NWFirearm Forum or FB.

Just saying...

The serious, thoughtful and thought-provoking members of OCDO that we enjoyed reading and having pleasant and educated discourse with have been displaced by those that shout the loudest and argue the most distastfully. Those that found this unacceptable have moved onto more pleasant surroundings, leaving just us; the dregs of a once great forum. Newbies that might contribute some new insights are treated so shabbily that they don't want to stay. Sorry to say, this is the new normal at OCDO.

Tis a shame Gutshot that your continual trite commentary of late is so negative regarding this forum and it’s membership, especially while your misguided belief of past years memories of member’s thoughtful & pleasant exchanges on subjects was without discord.

Truly your memories are askewed as any type of review of past threads would show spirited exchanges as well as several who cast degrading and rude playground taunts towards other members.

Could it be gutshot, et al., the issues that initally held this membership’s attention in years past, e.g., RAS, OC’g, Brandishing, different states’ statutory firearm governance, state’s lack of preemption [OR], ad nauseam, have been discussed to death?

Further, one should be careful throwing rocks, shouldn’t you, especially if some of your recent posts would be viewed by seasoned members and newbies...

OP, as stated, welcome back & hopefully your almost 3 year hiatus is over and you are ready to continue your discussions on the forum.

Well I'm not on face book. But that loose quite some time back.

Three years....WOW.... time flies. I've picked up a couple of new hobbies (OC is a lifestyle not a hobby) and progressed quite far in one (HAM radio). So far in fact that I now teach courses for people to get their licenses and "Elmer" newbies. I also got elected to the local clubs Vice Presidency. That one takes a lot of time. The other is gold mining, and that one is a lot of fun as well.

With the current initiative on the table I thought I'd better get in here and see what I could do. I'll try to check out that forum but this is, or at least was and I hope still is, the nationwide gathering place for OC'ers. Too many "pro gun" types are "Butters"......."I fully support he second amendment....BUT (insert exceptions here)". I have little use for discussions with such belief systems unless they are willing to actually discuss the issues based on facts and law rather than their feelings. And all those "buts" are based on emotional "arguments" not objective examination of the law, the Constitution, and human rights.

Hey, I am not too far from you.
Maybe we can meet sometime.
I open carry most of the time that I am not at work, and have literally never really had any negative experience related to doing so. I am frequently in Grants Pass and Medford, and rarely does anyone even seem to notice.
Anyway, good to see you back.
