LETTER: A misreading of gun laws
The Washington Post

Washington state's gun laws are not "among the most lax" in the country ["Tragedy at Mount Rainier," editorial, Jan. 3]. According to the anti gun rights Brady Campaign's 2010 state rankings, 37 states have less restrictive gun laws than Washington's.

The Post further demonstrates that it is out of touch by lamenting Washington's . . . practice of issuing concealed handgun permits to adults "without a serious criminal record or history of mental illness." The vast majority of states have these policies.
