  2. URGENT Action item: Senate Red Flag bill is delayed
1. Three gun-control bills pass the Senate, two on party-line votes and one with the help of two Republicans - Dunnavant and HangerSB 35, Senator Surovell, guts state gun-law preemption, passed out of the Senate by a party-line vote on January 16. If you are represented by a Democrat, contact him and let him know you disagree strongly with his vote supporting SB 35.

SB 69, Senator Locke, reinstates the old One-Handgun-A-Month law, passed out of the Senate by a party-line vote on January 16. If you are represented by a Democrat, contact him and let him know you disagree strongly with his vote supporting SB 69.

SB 70, Senator Lucas, universal background checks, passed out of the Senate by a 23 to 17 vote on January 16. If you are represented by a Democrat, contact him and let him know you disagree strongly with his vote supporting SB 70. If you are represented by Republican Senator Dunnavant or Republican Senator Norment, let them know you are not happy with their vote on SB 70!

All three bills now head to the House, where they will start over again by being sent to a subcommittee for a vote, probably in mid-February.
2. URGENT Action item: Senate Red Flag bill is delayedOur pressure is working - let's keep it up! SB 240, Senator Barker, a "Red Flag Law" bill, has been passed by (not voted on) for two days in a row on the Senate Floor. That indicates some problem with the bill or, perhaps, simply not enough support for it.

Let's keep up the pressure to kill SB 240. Click here to send a pre-written email in opposition to SB 240. Also leave a voice message for your Senator to oppose SB 240.

RICHMOND — A Circuit Court judge upheld Gov. Ralph Northam's temporary ban on firearms in Capitol Square ahead of Monday's gun rights rally, which is expected to draw thousands of armed activists from across the country.

Philip Van Cleave, president of the VCDL, said after the ruling that his group intended to appeal to the Virginia Supreme Court. “Basically I didn’t hear anything in her ruling that made any sense in our case, so on to the next level,” he said.

This seems to be the most active thread on what's left of this board.

God bless Grapeshot may he rest in peace.

Hopefully, he, Peter Nap, and Skidmark can appreciate some of the signage I put on the Port-a-jons I rented for the party. You old timers that attend will see.

Anecdotal:
1000 state troopers assigned.
Vdot having trouble getting troopers for interstate highway lane closures for construction projects.
250 folks coming from Texas
Virtually entire Richmond PD and Capitol Police assigned.
I am told some arrangements have been made for a decent amount if donuts and coffee for the cops and attendees somewhere.
Police are not worried about us but are terrified of armed , organized militia groups.

Seen wit my own ears and heard wit my own eyes:
All three major network news crews in town, not just VA affiliates. Lots of other videographers/news already on site also.
At least 200 at Freedom gun range in VA Beach Fri. for VCDL briefing.
65 Port a Jon's in place, 20 on main at SunTrust, 40 on Franklin, plus 5 handicapped, will be unlocked starting about 6, all with signage saying everybody welcome, VCDL paid, please consider donating.
At least some LE are meeting at 5 for instructions.
I have approx. 500-600 packs of crackers and granola bars to hand out.
All but two entrances to the grounds were padlocked already; visitors were being wanded at North and South entrances. Only West entrance I believe, will be open tomorrow.

Let's all play nice.
Be safe.

I only watched the first three minutes of this, but he shows the entrance procedure.

Any of you who have ever used metal detector wands before will see that it's obvious you could walk through with a howitzer and they wouldn't catch it.

Then there's this, where police drove a hundred miles to check up on this guy, who tells them he'll be there to lobby, but he doesn't even carry and doesn't much like guns.

Did you not notice the many that were "stricken from the docket"? Many others were passed by indefinitely.

After getting out of committee they still need to go to the floor for a full vote and passed to the other house for processing.

We fight the battle, some we will lose and continue the battle. Others we will win this year and keep watch on them when they try to come back.

Show me where my link has bad info please.

impolite to put words in my mouth Nemo...as i never said that!

the information you provided was third party per se, second compiled by VCDL, third by you. i just provided the link where forum members can see for themselves from the horse's mouth ~ directly from the VA legislative link!

Polite or not, I shall continue. And because you put up the direct link consider yourself gifted. Where shall I mail you a paper cookie? Although your source is accurate it does go directly to a search link. Further action is needed to get details.

Mine provided all relevant info. I consider my source link more informative and easier to get accurate info quickly. And show me where the source I cite is inaccurate please.

And more importantly what did you do to expand gun rights in your state and nationally today?

Here is my post #4 at the beginning of this thread.
I think you should have taken some time and read this forum in detail. In my humble opinion your views defy history and places you in an unsupported position, in that, true gun rights have been achieved by hard nosed activism. Passivity is what has gotten us in this mess.
The Governor poked VCDL in the eye and VCDL ran to mommy crying. 22,000 plus came running, ready to storm the walls or better yet, tear down the walls, but instead VCDL folded. Leaving the troops holding their hats in their hands.
What's the old saying????? VCDL folded like a cheap suit. VCDL could have won this war without firing a shot. After all, the law was on VCDL's side. Oh yeah, what's that other saying??? No guts, no glory.

So what did you expect to be done? Storm the Capital and Pocohontas building and take them all hostage until they could be hung on the capital square?

What folding happened?

So, you wanted to resolve the problem in one fell swoop.
I think the 22,000 armed men and women could have politely removed the fencing and stacked it neatly so it could be removed expeditiously because the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances could be carried out.

Those issues are resolved within the law. It would have been criminal to do that under the circumstances at that time. And I really do not think the LEOs in the area would have avoided confrontation had that started.

We are not there yet.

Seriously? The law is crystal clear, the Governor had no power to disallow firearms on the capitol grounds.
