I saw the following article on the Vilsack/King debate. It appears that gun control came up with Vilsack saying that "assault weapons" have no place in polite society while King defends them pointing their popularity for varmint control.

I started to watch the Boswell/Latham debate on PBS but lost interest real quick. Did anyone watch all the way through? Anything of note come up?

I did look the two gents up to see where they stand on RKBA and they are both highly rated by the NRA, good enough for me. I did watch the debate long enough to learn that both of these honorable gents have served in office for a decade or more. Are these two the best we have? Of all the people in their respective districts (now a singular district after the lines were re-drawn) these are the best we could find for ten years? I don't have anything concrete to hold against either, I'm just of the belief that politicians and diapers need to be changed often, and for the same reason.

Thankfully we don't have Loebsack running for office in this district any more. Problem is that he moved across the district line so that he could run against a Republican. We need to remove that <expletive> from office. Loebsack is no friend of ours. How does Archer stack up to Loebsack? As far as I'm concerned I'd vote for a ham sandwich over Loebsack.

Where I live we got Braley vs. Lange. I don't know much about Braley except he's been rated poorly by the NRA. Don't know much about Lange either, just that he's been rated highly by the NRA.

Lange was in Cedar Rapids on Thursday to speak but I missed it. Did anyone see him there? Did he say anything of note?

I didnt see either debate, but the assault weapons ban is just another shot at our 2A rights. The conspiracy nut in me says an assault weapons ban is an attempt to make sure we dont have the same firepower they do when they come knocking. The civil rights part of me says that someone in the .gov is pointlessy afraid of guns, period, and deep down inside would like to see all guns taken off the streets.

But, alas I have the side of me that hopes to one day get back to the roots of our country, and not have any infringments on our rights. After all, the 2nd Amendment does NOT state "except for assault weapons." It says "Arms", and "Shall Not Be Infringed."

Looks like a couple more debates have passed. Not only in the Iowa congressional delegation but also presidential debates. Obama saying he'd sign an assault weapons ban, and do something about "cheap handguns", reflects poorly on all Democrats IMHO. Obama essentially speaks for the Democrat Party since he is the highest elected official in that party. When he says he wants an assault weapons ban then I suspect many Democrats will want to play along.

It looks like the King/Vilsack debate will be replayed this Sunday on IPTV, I might watch. The last one between Lange and Braley will be televised next week on IPTV. The live debate is Thursday with replays for the next three days. Not much time between that debate and election day. I took advantage of the early voting since I thought I heard enough out of both of them but I'm still a bit curious if Braley would drop a bombshell like Obama did on our right to keep and bear arms.

Judging from the traffic on this thread and the Iowa sub-forum there does not seem to be much concern over the Congressional seats. That's to be expected I suppose, the Presidential race always seems to grab more eyeballs. I just don't want to see gun grabbers like Loebsack and Braley get into office again.
