Will there be a OC Dinner the first Friday of September 2015 (9/4)? If so, where and when? I would like to get involved. Thanks

Hi
I am from NJ, but moved to Cornelius in mid-June. Kernersville is approximately 75 miles away, about 1 hour 15 minutes. A little far, but within my means.
I just realized, though, that September 4th is Labor Day weekend. I will definitely make the October dinner. As you can realize, I am very very nervous open carrying because of being from NJ. Although many here in NC just keep telling me to do it, I would get a greater comfort level being around others my first time or two.
If I can help with planning any activities, let me know.
A couple of questions
#1 - About how many people attend?
#2 - Would you consider a location nearer to Cornelius now and then?
#3 - If I attend October's meeting, do I need any sort of ID or license, or can I just come open carrying?
#4 - Is there a way I can "friend" you to stay in touch with things?
Thanks

Will let the locals respond to #1 - 3.

As to #4:
Either change your Profile setting "Automatic Thread Subscription Mode" to automatic email notification or manually subscribe to the thread you want to watch.

To do the latter, look for the grey bar across the top of the thread page and click on "Thread Tools" = drop down menu, select your choice.

Well, there seems to be amount of people is all over the board, sometimes 15, sometimes 2 or 3 or 4. As for a licence, only if you drive yourself, then a drivers license, no need to show ID for OCing in this state, as it isnt an ID state unless you are CCing. 75 miles is a long way to travel for an OC dinner, but if you want to make it you will be welcomed. I hope you partake in the Liberties that NJ refuses to allow their subjects, I think you will find it refreshing.

Hey FJPRO2A, I have seen you have been on this forum for 5 years. welcome to NC. a vastly freer state then NJ

60 miles is about as much as I have to go to get to prissy Pollies. but it is good to make the trip every once in a while. I have been there when it was only me and JAG07 there. last one i went to was about 12 there

I have tried to get something going in your area when ever I work the GRNC booth down that way. let me know if you want and we can try to do something down there. I like Golden Corral, and they are very open friendly

I forgot about it until the last minute. I have been out of time for a few months. If anyone is available and near Kernersville, come on over to Prissy Polly's.

I will absolutely make October and/or November at Prissy Pollys. NC is so vastly superior to NJ that it actually scares me. That is why I want to meet with a few others my first time or two. If I can help in any way to get something closer, I will. Golden Corral sounds good. Give me some pointers on how to start the process. I moved here in June of 2015, so I still need a little time to familiarize myself with the area.

Yeah. I know in conversations with other states they really don't know how bad they have it. Some of them think that the way their state does things is how it is supposed to be. of course even people in our own country don't know the laws. I had a client, that i was doing some work for. when we stopped at a store asked me if I had a permit for that. I told him No, in VA you didn't need a permit

Looking forward to meeting you at next months meetng. As far as starting your own OC meetup, all you need to due is set a date, time, and locations then create a topic for it. You can set it at a regular rime like we do. There are busy times of the year like now when we have less people attending and then we hit meetings with 15 people, it varies.

I would also suggest picking 1 location and keeping it there. We have had people request us move it from Winston or to high point to make it closer to other folks, but most of the time we have done that those folks that requested it be moved closer to them never showed. We are Lucky with Prissy Pollys, they have good food and the owner welcomes us being there so we decided to just keep the meetups there. It also makes it easier so people already know the location every time.

If you have any questions let me know.

OC Dinner first Friday of August?

Hi all! I'm new to the forum, and saw that there have previously been OC meets. Would anyone be interested in starting this back up at Prissy Polly's the first Friday in August?

I recently moved back to NC (Greensboro) after a temporary exile in the Peoples Republic of Maryland. Some of you may know me from a few years ago when I lived in Greenville while attending grad school at ECU (2009-2011).

Anyway, I wondered if this even is still going on--we have a First Friday coming up this week, and I'd like to meet some of the local OC folks and talk about the OC situation here in Greensboro.

Thanks, and I hope to hear from some of you folks soon.

Carry On!

Missed you Dreamer. You've been gone too long. Welcome home!

Lacking any initial response, you may want to just go ahead and plan one. Build it and they will come type of thing.
