quote HB 98: ( The words "retired military veteran" as used in this section, unless the context clearly requires a different meaning, means only those persons who are nondisability retirees from active duty in the Army, or the Navy, or the Marine Corps, or the Air Force, or the Coast Guard of the United States. unquote. (sent to the governor 4 May 16) https://legiscan.com/AL/text/HB98/2016

guess what Law Abider, by your own self 'possible' mentality and statements you have made elsewhere on this forum, if service members served in a war zone they suffer from PTSD and therefore, by your own concepts are considered disabled and therefore apparently not eligible to receive this boon for their service to our country.

I think the gift is from the taxpayers in the state of Alabama, not the Governor.

Why not go the entire distance and pass Constitutional Carry and issue such permits as might be wanted for travel to other states at no charge? Or would some say that's just more freebies for a certain group?

I'm still looking in the Constitution for where it says we have RKBA only after paying for it.........again.

Guess you forgot to look at the stats from the Garza incident. The PTSD is not 100%.

Yes, those of us who retired do receive a pension. And we earned every penny of it. How many seventy-two hour long days have you put in? Have you ever had a job where you were considered to be on duty 24/7? How about a job where a phone call in the wee hours of the morning could mean that you wouldn't be home for days, weeks, months, or even ever?

For the record; Retired LEOs in Alabama have been given free pistol permits for many years. I don't think they earned it nearly as much as those of us who served in the military. And I would much rather have seen the law passed doing away with the need for a permit to carry in your vehicle. Our wonderful Alabama Sheriffs' Association had a lot to do with defeating that again this legislative year.

Every job 24/7 ... longest workday = 86 hrs .... gone for long time periods ... [outside of my military service, yes I'm a vet!---I think my longest military day was 6 hrs -- Air Force ya know, steaks and eggs for breakfast everyday, breakfast in bed etc.].

No guberment worker should be getting anything free ... we taxpayers already got soaked. And yes, military personnel are way over paid IMO....
