svmes -- sioux valley model engineers society just made a general weapons ban including any place they have a event

any place have event even includes restaurant they not even own

the club building is county owned and on county owned fair grounds in sioux falls and they really not pay rent at all

we all know the state laws against city and county not letting city and county make legal carry bans

this club thinks they can make their own rules for places they not even own

open carry needs a event telling this club their thing of making rules for places they not even own and even has a state law against this kind of rule being made needs stop -- now

know damn well their thinking of stuff never going to happen is big fat delusion

been attacked few times before -- yes here in sioux falls and fact people was randomly attacked during fair not enough prove to them the nothing ever happens is delusion

people randomly attacked close to building on county owned fair grounds and they still think nothing bad ever happens

make these idiots stop

am willing to meet with open carry local organizers and show you the actual letter they send people

Welcome to the forum Jamie.

Took the liberty of moving this to the SD sub-forum as it is state specific.

Not a lot of activity there - would hope for more. Maybe you can help to generate it.

need to have stuff going

place making rules for buildings they nit even own and even against state law

wal mart can put up a gun ban sticker if they want but some club not allowed to make a ban just because they want to be there

good luck forcing your little insane rules on others in places you not even own

svmes needs a protest in front of the building they use during public events

There are circumstances where a private party becomes either a tenant or a venue - then yes they can make the rules during their term of occupancy.

Check with someone more knowledgeable on your laws/statutes to confirm this. Note that it is less likely to be in gun/carry laws, more likely in property/real estate laws.

club is not a tenant

county fair board lets club use the building - no rent

for their events thing -- just nothing more than club deciding to all meet at same time and eat -- they do not rent the restaurant

even if tenant thing -- little different when part of a county owned fair grounds than a office building some random place in town

this is different than the old you rent office space in some mall thing --- county owns the building and club pays no rent

they have no power to make rules the actual owner not

43-14-1. Occupancy conferring title--Exceptions. Occupancy for any period confers a title sufficient against all except the state and those who have title by prescription, accession, transfer, will, or succession.

this means since the county owns the building the occupant rule not gie them same powers as you renting a office building

I'm not trying to argue with you. I am suggesting that if you hope to accomplish anything other than a rant, you need legal advice from someone much more cognizant of your local laws than I.

maybe a perfect organization to sue .. likely have little resources to fight.

civil suit for violating your rights.
Civil suit? For what? What recoverable damages. Right.......sue for 1000K.

+ if I am going to file suit, I want it to be against someone with deep financial resources.

Spend a lot of money, have a little fun, go home broke. Choo, choo, all aboard.

normally if your goal is $$$ then sue the deep pockets ... if your goal is to make case law, go after little fish w/no resources

Still takes more than petty cash or grocery money.

When asked how much getting justice would cost, the lawyer replied, "How much justice do you want?"

yes i got people helping that know laws more than grapeshot

try state attorney

since the government owns the building

and also have other lawyers tell me they have no right to make a ban to include property of others

you want people getting together at a restaurant --- ok but you have no say in what people can do or not on their property

you have no owner share in their business so you have no right to say

and you calling this a rant -- ok but so is every post trying help people with a boycott list so people know who hates you for nothing more than their feel good crime never ever happens here and never will thinking

places like that and they get a mass shooter -- grab the popcorn and watch the show

Might want to bring up topic of no rent at County Commission meeting, and request same arrangement for 'Old Black Powder Clubhouse' or perhaps offer $100 a year more to rent clubhouse. County has to be paying utilities and maintenance on building.
