As many of you know, NY recently shoved their shiny new gun laws onto the books. Hawaii is trying to follow suite with their own AWB among other things. With the new laws that are being introduced right now, if these were passed I believe it would make Hawaii the strictest state in the union regarding firearms. Here in Hawaii we already have an extensive process to aquire and mandatory registration of all firearms. Attached is a link to the full bill. I am trying to get the word out on this before it is passed under everyone's nose like NY did. The local news here has not been reporting on this at all. There are also other bills recently introduced including annual renewal of firearms registration including a fee which currently there is no fee and once you register you are set. Also requiring proof of ownership of a certain firearm to buy ammunition for it.

Perhaps someone with some legal background can confirm or not if section 3 at the end means that legally acquired weapons already in the hands of those are grandfathered or if they will be subject to confiscation or class c felony as it spells out in previous sections.

Unfortunately the people in Hawaii have been subjects too long.

There is some rise and dissent, some of it in sovereignty movements and others in "Defend Hawaii" movement. So there is some who still sort of get it.

Yesterday there was a decent turnout at the state capitol and I am hoping that as more people find out about the proposed legislation and what it actually means beyond just "bans assault weapons" it will get more resistance.

There are plenty of gun owners here, I see people at the gun shop and PD to register them all the time but there are not alot of social get togethers here where folks can get educated about these issues.

Also, the "defend hawaii" stickers everyone has with the little AR logo have nothing to do with anything political... Its actually just a clothing brand...

When I go shooting there, I have to show up an hr. before time share a table with my family or we don't get to shoot and it's a large range. (Koko Head)

There are lots of gun people there but lots of misinformation by the people in control of the state too.
