OC'd in a number of my usual places this weekend, some of them multiple times.

Starbucks in Carnation.
Les Schwab in Redmond.
Fred Meyer, Home Depot, Lowes in Issaquah.
Home Depot and Fred Meyer in Covington.

No comments anywhere except the FM in Covington. While my wife and I are shopping, I hear someone say "Excuse me..." ( I turn and a young man is approaching us). He walks up and extends his hand and tells my how much he appreciates seeing someone exercising his rights. :) We had a nice chat about carrying, sheeple and GFZ's. He CC's because he is nervous about OC, but knows it is legal and has tried it at Walmart. I think he just needs more exposure to it and he will eventually OC more. I told him how I've been carrying for about two years with no negative encounters, even around local Police officers with no problems. I told him about this site, so hopefully he'll check us out. We shook hands again and each went on with our shopping.

Overall, a great weekend of OC.

oc'd all over yesterday. all the usual places. except Welchers gun shop. the people there are always si nice. had a good conversation with an older gentleman that worked there. he asked me if i had ever been hassled about OC. so far 2 negative encounters by uninformed people, non LEO. countless possitives. seems amazing everytime a guy that works in a gun store asks about OC, because they dont do it. people always say its brave to walk around with a gun exposed. i really dont get that comment. we discussed lots of topics including CPLs he said an army guy came in with a new CPL, and it was smaller and green, with a WA logo on it. The number system was way different to. they turned him away untill they could call on monday. does anyone know if puyallup is issuing a different cpl? seems unlogical.

I posted on this issue some months ago.......

Good Afternoon Bill,

The information you are hearing is partially correct. The license will not be on
the same card stock as the state drivers license however, the format is changing.
The new license will be about the size of the drivers license and can be folded in
half and laminated to be the actual size of the drivers license. The way the
information is displayed is changing as well as no signature required by the
applicant on the license. Also it is on a special type of paper so if it is copied
the copy with show void written over the license itself.

We are currently still in the testing phase and hope to do a soft launch soon and
open it to all LEA's after the soft launch. Unfortunately we do not have an exact
start date for the new licenses. We are also working on an online submission of
pistol transfer applications for the dealers at the same time.

Feel free to contact us with any further questions or concerns. Thank you and have
a great day.

Subject: CPL changes

I work at a gun shop and I have heard from a few different individuals over
the last month, that there is a change coming in the style of the license.
The change is that we are going from a paper license to something like a
hard plastic card (IE: drivers license). Is this true or in the works ?

New cpl design

Good Morning Bill,

Attached is a copy of what the redesigned CPL looks like. The new CPL’s are being issued by agencies that are using firearms online; the old CPL’s are still being issued by law enforcement that are not using firearms online.

We will be getting something out to the dealers to notify them of the change.

This is the first day in about two months that I wore my Kimber 1911 (I've been wearing my Taurus Judge). The first store I entered (Albertsons Gig Harbor on Borgan), someone came up and said, "Hey, nice gun!" I guess I'll be wearing it more often. :D

Went camping again at Alder Lake. Never once had a negative encounter. Was fishing off the dock, couple guys pull up and tie off. One looks at my hip and asked me if it was a Sig. I kind of laughed and said no, it is a Glock 21. He then asked if it was a 9mm. Again, I laughed and said no it is a .45. He said that is the only way to carry. I asked why he thought that and he replied cause of the large caliber. Then we went into the conversation of defensive loads and calibers. Had many compliments during my stay and made some new friends. We left Sunday and stopped at Wendy's for lunch. No issues what so ever. After Wendy's we went to Sportsmans Warehouse, looked around for quite some time and then went home.

Wiring some lights for a offroad jeep project I am working on and ran out of Butane. Went to 7-11, no comments, and didn't have any. Went to a smoke shop in lakewood next to Dominos. Asian guy notices gun and says that air gun looks very good. I said it's a real gun, he looked shocked. I told him that WA is a open carry state and If you can own a gun you can carry it around. You only need a permit to carry it hidden or loaded in a car. He asked if it had a "clip" in it. I assured him it did and that it was perfectly legal to do so. He kinda smiled and said "I don't have a problem with it, But in here you don't see many people walking around with guns." I told him I could understand that. They had a photo on the counter of two thuggy looking guys in hoodies, that aparently stole some stuff. And from the stack of photos under that one I am guessing it happens alot.

I felt like saying maybe if more of the customers carried I bet less theft would happen. But from what I could tell the clientel was mostly younger people buying pipes, bongs, spice etc. Probably better off if they didn't carry a gun.

Do people really carry their airsoft guns around with them? If I see a gun, I don't even think of airsoft unless I am in a gas station and its in a glass cabinet for 10 bucks...

Dinner OC in Lakewood Towne Center

While OC'ing today, the Family and a friend stopped to eat at LaPalma in the Lakewood Towne Center, no questions, comments or otherwise.
We enjoyed our dinner and to top it off, LaPalma offers a Military discount Monday's through Thursday's, so dinner was even cheaper.

Yesterday I went to Sportsman's Warehouse to get some 5.56mm
Been in here many times and nobody has ever said anything other than, "Can I help you find anything?" or, "What're you carrying?"
Anyways, so I went to check out and the girl at the register notices my 1911 and leans around to verify that I am in fact armed.
She says, "Oh, in the future could you check that in at the service desk?"
I said, "Why?"
Her reason, "Because we sell guns here."
Sigh.
I reply, "That policy is only for weapons being turned in for service."
She seems surprised and says, "Really? Are you sure?"
I resist the urge to hang my head in disbelief and say, "That's what the 3x5 sign on your front door says."
Her, "Wait, there's a sign?"

So I go outside to my motorcycle and begin securing my ammo in one of my saddlebags. A lifted Tacoma pulls up. A young guy gets out and as he walks by me he stops and says, "I never had the balls to OC."
I laughed and said, "The first couple times I oc'd I was so nervous I was shaking but you know what? Nobody cared. You should try it."
He shakes his head, "I've thought about it but I'm nervous enough about this poking out." He gestures to his 1 o'clock confirming what I already knew. I have to admit though, he really is good at concealing. I only noticed when I looked for it when I first saw him looking at me.
I told him, "Most people don't notice and the rest just don't care."
He had some questions about private property laws and I explained how most places actually have a corporate policy to follow state law.
His biggest concern with OC had to do with where he lived. He said he lived in the hood in Tacoma so he was worried about attracting unwanted attention. So we had the usual conversation that follows that statement.
I wanted to talk more but he and I both had things to do.

After that I went to Tacoma Boys to get some Salmon. Once again I had no issues there.

Must have been a new employee. Same thing happened to me a while back.
Sooo, I walked into the Sportsmans Warehouse in Puyallup today. As I walked in, a employee asked me to check in my weapon. I asked her what do you mean "check it in". She replied back that she needed to put a ribbon on it and I needed to unload it and give her my ammo and mag. I knida chuckled and said "so want me to give you my mag and walk around with no ammo or mag in my pistol". She said yes and that was the policy. (Mind you the policy is, if you are going to have your pistol serviced and if it is holstered, then and ONLY then do you have to check it in and remove all ammo). I told her that was not going to happen and we were leavein, She said bye bye. As I was walking out, I told her we will never be back again. Walked out the door and almost got back to the vehicle when she popped he head out of one of the doors. She called me back and apoligized. Come to find out, she was new to the store and did not know the policy.

Today, I went to Sportsmans Warehouse for some fishing stuff. Not a word said, other than can I help you. Went to the 7-eleven to get a fountain drink and then home. Headed back to Sportsmans Warehouse tomorrow for the Utah Handgun Safety Course.
