I'm currently a private detective in Wisconsin.
My company might be tracing / pursuing a suspect into northern IL in the next few days.
Once we hit the border, do we turn into normal everyday citizens, or does IL recognize our professional licenses (both for carry & for detective work)?

Is there someone I could call & talk with to sort this out w/r/t the laws? I'd prefer a lawyer-type person. The IL state agency which licenses private detectives wasn't helpful.

I would start here: https://privateinvestigatoredu.org/license-requirements/

Another angle to look at would be is there an outstanding warrant? And does your state license actually deputize you as a law enforcement officer for the purpose of executing said warrant. The problem with this is the person you are attempting to apprehend has extradition rights. Did you look-up bounty hunter powers in Illinois?
Also, Does the person have a felony? That invokes citizens arrest.
