not sure why, as a retired LE, you would on your first post in over two years, pick a three + year olde, mundane and insignificant story from such a weasel blog source to inquire about?

especially since there doesnt seem to be any chatter by you when the story initally broke in sept 2013!

surely there is something of great political significance and slightly more current going on the your local community for you to mention?

No updated info was quickly found.

Yes it is an old event + the OP's link is from a CopWatch style site.

As prior LE myself I can see how relevant old mundane and insignificant stories can upset a select few prior/current LE officers. But facts are facts...again I know how some in the LE community can also be upset about this...but I would like to know if anyone at that police dept was held accountable. Hopefully you will be able to sleep tonight...I know how upset you must be about this thread.

rof...I am not, nor have i ever been associated with fine LE profession...and my commentary was strictly directed towards you.

as for being able to sleep ~ not a factor in my life. but it seems that perhaps, since you brought up the 3 years olde nonsense, that you as a member of the blue cadre could call the Somers pd, intro yourself as brethren, and inquire as the outcome of said debacle. suggestion, might start off joking about what a great prank their officers started and then segue in to as conversation of whatever was the aftermath?

my query stands, surely there is something far more current for you to bring up for a viable discussion topic...

Ad hominem reported.

nightmare, please do what you must, especially since you have contributed significantly nothing to the OPs plight of finding out about a 2013 BS issue...

1. http://newyork.cbslocal.com/2013/09/26/somers-man-fights-back-after-pro-gun-sign-removed-from-lawn/

Town officials and police said the sign violated a zoning ordinance prohibiting signs within the town’s right of way and has nothing to do with free speech or gun rights.

Officials said Gibson had been warned to take down the signs before it was done for him.

2. seems the nice sign owner whiner stated:
quote“this is my property, although i have to find out if the town claims any rights to property on the edge of the road as this was about 4-5′ in from the edge of the roadway.”

He also admitted that he was instructed to remove the sign once by the town’s building inspector.... unqote

3. quote:

Gibson’s lawyer, Richard Bombardo, told FoxNews.com that they are currently having his property surveyed to be certain that the signs were not on the public right-of-way, which, though on Gibson's property, would be restricted for signage.

“If the sign was close enough to public property, then they were within their right,” Bombardo said to FoxNews.com. “But if it was solely on his property, that’s where the issue is.”

Somers Town Supervisor Mary Beth Murphy told FoxNews.com that the signs were indeed on public property -- within 15 feet of the road -- and were removed to comply with town ordinances.

The town does not allow signs in the right of way,” Murphy said. “The police chief had received numerous complaints from neighbors and it was determined that the sign was posted in the right of way.” unquote

OP sorry your way around Al Gore's invention couldn't locate the information!! OH shall i post these same cites on the other necro thread you opened up?

nightmare, saddle up your faithful sidekick named ad hominem, as this case is closed and was so easy Pat Brady took care of it without leaving nellybelle, thus allowing you to ride into the sunset.

here is a prime example of someone screaming the sky is falling to the mass blogs, etc., over their loss of perceived rights, and low and behold, the citizen made their statement(s) against the PD knowing full well he was in the wrong as he had been informed by town officials the sign wasn't allowed...

From OP art.:

“this is my property, although i have to find out if the town claims any rights to property on the edge of the road as this was about 4-5′ in from the edge of the roadway.

As Jeff Goldbloom would say ... "Yes, yes, find out."

If the sign was on the easement ... I think its OK to remove via .govs actions.

From the pics...I would guess it was on town property.

I have stakes on my property showing the end of the town's property...I would not want to arrest a .gov for violating my notice of trespass over a non-marked property identifier.
