thanks guys i somehow figured it out.

really weird. the gun would not let me load more than 1 bullet into the clip (stock clip). somehow the metal piece/spring that you push down when putting rounds in the clip slipped up above this metal piece that floats up and down.

weird.

I think you mean magazine. Not usually an important distinction but that particular gun uses both. Anyway, take the gun down, remove the trigger assembly and mag compartment. Clean it off the best you can, adjust what you can then put it all back together. It is hard telling what went wrong but a good tear down and cleaning fixes a lot of issues. If you can include pictures if you are still having the issue.

yes, yes you are right. i must had said clip as i was cleaning a few semi-auto pistols.

i was able to figure it out and fix the issue but still unsure what caused it! o well as long as it doesnt happen again!

i bought it for deer hunting. cant use a 20 round clip. i dont feel like talking the gun apart to swap clips. lazyness

and per my earlier post...

http://www.google.com/imgres?imgurl=http://www.marstar.ca/product_images/Accessories/partsandacc/SKS/sksparts.gif&imgrefurl=http://www.marstar.ca/dynamic/category.jsp?catid%3D79496&h=411&w=450&sz=39&tbnid=1blPvpGdGsgQUM:&tbnh=81&tbnw=89&zoom=1&usg=__roXwE4qMbwWj9XcaxSaDKuFjxRs=&docid=vzAhGvfCj8vnIM&sa=X&ei=errbT_iEPIK02gW6uv3DCg&ved=0CHUQ9QEwAQ&dur=433

part number 32...is what you load your rounds on top of and push down when loading. there is a metal piece (maybe number 38) that is by the rear of the cartridge/primer cap. it does something with #32 and the bolt weather it is empty or has rounds in the clip. thats what #32 was popping out and above from.

man so hard to explain...lol

ok...so to clairfy what i was trying to say in my earlier posts, the magazine follower seems to jump up and above the hold open latch after the last round is fired. i believe the follower is suppose to push up the hold open latch, but mine is somehow slipping to the right and jumping up and back left over the Hold open latch.

so now that i have the right part descriptions, anyone else have that issue
once again the mag is the stock 10rd. only thing i have done was install a tapco stock

Semiautomatic pistols still use a magazine.

its just that there are so many more gun designs to choose from ... 40 years ago, OK ... but not today

some people enjoy the classic firearms that have served in war, owning a piece of history, and the background that comes with it.

also since you don't own an SKS and have no valuable input to my problem may i suggest you post on another topic because your smart-assed comments have no use here.

Not going to be too much help here but from looking at the pics and the description, I am wondering if the pivot point hole in 32 is worn and allowing just enough slop for it to do exactly as described.

Dial caliper checking the pin and the hole might find them to be out of size with each other by quite a bit.

I am not a gun smith but if you can find a difference in those sizes, odds are it is WAY out of spec and could be the problem.

In keeping with the magic that is ocdo, this is the part where I say "should have bought garrand" or Mauser.....

Good luck with the fix, there are indeed several over on the firing line that are sks fans and there used to be a guy on mocarry that was a huge sks fan as well.

Hope you get it fixed the easy way!

Had you fired the rifle before the stock was changed and if so did it have the same problem or not?

yea...should of bought garrand or a mauser, maybe you just gave me an excuse to spend more money on toys :)

i will check that pivot point. i did not notice that. could be the spring also.

also i did not fire it before i changed the stock. i do not think it would be an issue with the stock as it is a very common sks aftermarket stock for SKS's.

in the end i bought it for deer hunting (close range no 300yrd shots) and the issue only happens after the last round is fired. if i cant shoot a deer in 10 rounds i need to slap myself.

My dad's had the Tapco stock too. Worked flawlessly. I've never had any issue with Tapco stuff, so I would assume the stock isn't posing any problem, but you know what they say about assuming.
