Statistics on gun ownership across the U.S. are hard to nail down; the ATF's National Firearms Registration and Transfer Record is not all-inclusive, and some guns go unregistered.

But "Injury Prevention," a scholarly journal [2017 impact factor of 2.420], has released what may be the closest look yet. Their survey, published in 2015, asked a representative sample of 4,000 adults nationwide whether they own firearms. The findings helped the research group estimate gun ownership rates in each state.

Hawaii at 45%...no way.
My daughter worked in Makawao, Maui, for five years, and I used the opportunity to get my fill of Maui, nine weeks. My family has a historical connection to the Islands and Hawaiian culture.

You see the media’s vision of the population, while the Haole culture is heavily armed. Law enforcement struggles for ‘balance’ while Kama’aina - ‘Children of the Land’ - have no interest in Haole cultural aspects like law enforcement. Give them a can of Spam and they’re happy.

Your critical reading skills fail you. FAIL.

I concur. Apparently, he missed Page 1, which states:

"Statistics on gun ownership across the U.S. are hard to nail down; the ATF's National Firearms Registration and Transfer Record is not all-inclusive, and some guns go unregistered.

"But "Injury Prevention," a scholarly journal, has released what may be the closest look yet. Their survey, published in 2015, asked a representative sample of 4,000 adults nationwide whether they own firearms. The findings helped the research group estimate gun ownership rates in each state."

What might actually be USEFUL, however, would be a table so people could copy the numbers and analyze them as compared to other data, such as rates for law enforcement, suicide, crime, population densities, etc.

UPDATE: Problem solved

Again, how do they know this? They didn't say most guns, they said some guns.....so that tells me they know most gun ownership, but not all, just SOME....So, base on the limited records they have on gun ownership , how did the writer know what percentage each state gun ownership have?

They have no clue.

They can't admit that of course or be reduced to irrelevant.

The gov guess at gun ownership, if you simply stop counting when FFLS were put in place, is laughingly low.

Now add private sales, trades, folks getting guns in a myriad of ways with no paperwork at all, and that gov guess becomes, like most other ATF activities, ridiculous.

Hey, not bad for "ballistic statistics." I'm going to go way out on the skinniest twigs of a limb and say the real percentage is somewhere between 0% and 100% for each state.

Insofar as social gun cultures may contribute to these prevailing social values, their co-occurrence with gun ownership suggests that social gun culture must be considered by potential public health intervention in the area.
Gun ownership is a public health issue. Right here tells you all ya need to know about liberals, it is not about the citizenry, but simply the gun. This is why we must work to convince regular folks that liberals are indeed out to confiscate your guns.

Shun liberals in all things great and small on the political stage.

Lies, darn lies, and what’s the word again...oh ya statistics...
OP’s cite,Quote:
Here is a look at per capita weapons data, based on the ATF's National Firearms Registration and Transfer Record, and 2013 data from the U.S. Census.
But some guns fall outside of this scope, and many aren't registered, meaning surveys on gun ownership come to different conclusions. Unquote

So firearm data from 2013 is so terribly important in 2019...[darn there are the lies beginning!] Especially after the highest selling years, according to recorded NICS bkgnd number which have occurred.

Oh wait stop your rally against me until you review this 2015 cite http://www.ctguntalk.com/smf/index.php?topic=41274.0 thread title:
CBS report on gun ownership by state [theres those darn lies cropping up]

2 pages of advocates in 2015 whining about the accuracy of the analysis [oh dear...there is that bloody term...statistics!]

Every time I get a "survey call", depending on HOW (and what) they ask, I have one of three answers:
1. - "I don't do surveys."
2. - "None of your business."
3. - "None of your damn business."

How can ANY survey get reliable information in these times? Not very likely.
