I do not jump out of perfectly good airplanes My father did 17 times 82nd Airborne or off bridges.

I do not kiss vipers or wrestle with grizzlies. I prefer distances in excess of 10 feet with the former and in excess of 10 MILES with the latter.

I do not ride motorcycles - did once and loved it. That's why I quit. I have and will again. I just do not plan to do so where there is any appreciable amount of 4 wheel traffic

I do not walk on water. Since I don't think any of us are Jesus, all that happens when we try is we get wet or drown if we can't swim and are not wearing a life vest or some other flotation device.

Most of those are life choices. ymmv Yep.

I'm not saying I condone this... I knew bikers that would carry chain lube within reach. When some idiot would start tailgating them, out comes the chain lube and they would spray it over their shoulder. As soon as the driver hits the wipers, well it makes a mess, forcing them to slow down.

Funny story related to this idea: when I was younger, dad and I were driving down a Wyoming highway towing a pontoon boat, with a huge head wind (as tends to be the case in WY)--the combination was too much for the transmission. We knew something just wasn't right when a huge cloud of smoke enveloped and almost obscured the entire boat--and the lady who apparently had followed rather closely for the last several miles..

Dad tried to find a safer spot to pull over, and we continued several hundred yards uphill, until it basically pumped all of the fluid out, bringing us to a stop. The lady behind us never even slowed down despite the ginormous cloud of smoke (which was produced by oil hitting the hot exhaust)... When she passed, the entire front of her vehicle was coated with a layer of ATF--and the wipers were going furiously. We couldn't even see a face, so we can't guess how she did it, but she continued down the highway in just that fashion, scarcely bothering to slow down.

Yeah, I wouldn't count on a little squirt-can to deter someone like that. :)

... My HD bud carried a ball peen hammer mounted to his saddle bag. Uses it when cars come into his lane. I have seen him use it on car mirrors before and they seem to notice you after that.

Many of these replies suggest illegal acts.
Whether serious or tongue-in-cheek, they reflect on OCDO.

...."WE ADVOCATE FOR THE 'LAW-ABIDING' ONLY:
Posts advocating illegal acts of any kind are NOT welcome here."
I also ride, but any biker who did that to my car would get quick lesson in the law of gross tonnage.

Pretty easy to explain your way out of this one, "Of course I didn't mean to run him over, officer. His oil blew all over my windshield...I couldn't see"

Wyoming, busted tranny, 60 miles from anywhere, no traffic on the highway. A loooong walk and wait for help.

Been there, different reason, but same state. TWICE. Once on the D road in Crook County and once on the west side of Laramie. Laramie was easier.

I gratiously disagree. Continuosly riding my butt after a few attempts to pull ahead makes them the agressor. Someone looks out their window at you and still decides they still want in your lane also does. Trying to find a ball bearing at 75 mph on the highway will take some time. lol As far as the hammer thing, rather live to ride another day then to be killed by a cage.
Its hard to understand our thinking if you do not ride, which I have no idea if you do or not. Its a different world. Had a lady, in a van, go around a combine in my lane one day. She saw me but continued around around anyway. Forced me to stop in the grass. She got a size 11 boot to the back end of her van.

Was the lady on a cellphone?

Had a friend forced off the road into the median on a motorcycle around 35 MPH -- that's what he got it down to before he lost control of it. He got up, got back on the bike and road up to the minivan and started kicking it.

I wouldn't advocate ball bearings, pennies, quarters, or marbles; to each his own. I try to watch for motorcycles and bikes; I ride a bicycle on a frequent basis (I've OC'd on a bike). It will ruin my day severely to get run over on a bicycle. It will also ruin my day to go over the hood or trunk of a car just because I blew through a stop sign.

I find that when you carry, you know that you have the "ultimate solution". However, not every situation warrants deadly force. My experience has been that motorcyclists generally enjoy riding around at either the speed limit or pushing the limits of the person and/or bike. The former is not a "threat" in traffic. The latter can be dangerous, but self-defeating. There is always an option to pull over or pull off. The lawful cyclists can do this to avoid a clueless driver following too closely. The guys on high performance motorcycles can roll the throttle and pull ahead. I'd rather pull off.

That being said, I know it's possible to get a hit of adrenaline and take anything personally. Sometimes a person is lawfully passing (which in my state requires signaling with the horn, but no one does it). Sometimes they are frustrated that there is a 15 MPH object holding up traffic. Even with 200+ lbs of force on the crank, I can't do but about 30 MPH "wide-open" downhill and 5 MPH uphill in first gear on a 10% grade. Such is life. However, I know that it's easy to stay "in the zone" and do things without practically thinking. For that reason, I don't carry on a bike, and I don't take things personally in traffic -- whether I'm on a bike, or in a car.

Assess the threat. Mitigate the threat. Terminate the threat only if absolutely necessary.

If this is my situation:

2.On a wide 2 way lane, i would GRAdUALLY slow down let him pass then follow him to obtain plate # and ID the vehicle. While Camera is rolling.
