My email in response to his George Hale/Rick Tyler interview. Lets see if i get a response.... yes, I'm upfront and blatant, that's just me, i show no remorse. Some of you may not like it....oh well....

Hows it going? I'll try to keep this brief and hope you will give me a call for further chat. I expect a personal response and not a prewritten response from an aid.

I heard you on the George Hale and Rock Tyler show. Few things i wanted to address.

1. Open Carry does not make people run inn fear. I have a concealed carry permit for Maine and continue to open carry(OC from this point on).

2. Your statement that most people go through hoops from a CCW because they want to hide their gun is BS. In my experience, including my reasoning, most people apply for CCW because they do not want to unload when entering a vehicle. If i didn't have to unload in a vehicle, i would not have a CCW. The unloading ink a vehicle is the ONLY reason I procured a CCW.

3. It's comments like yours that give the anti-gunners the upper hand. Saying that a openly carried firearm is a reason to fear or panic only adds to their agenda.

4. Without OC, how do you expect to normalize firearms in their community? People are "scared" because they see something not normal.

5. I was nearly as disgusted with your interview as i was with the ACLU's response to making CCW holder's names public.

I hope you changed your stance. All i can say at this moment is that you're lucky you're not my representative.

My phone number is 203-690-0455 and i live in Orono, ME. I hope you respond, not just by email but phone as well.

OC educates and is practical.

Thank goodness we don't have to conceal drive our vehicles for the harm they might cause somebody.

His response:

Sean,

I appreciate your response. While you may not agree with me, many people do have concealed handgun permits due to the fact that the public often does get uncomfortable when they see a firearm openly carried. Also, many people fear that if they carry openly, people will judge them as "gun-nuts". I do not agree with this, but I do believe this is the case with many people. I do support constitutional carry, so please do not compare me to the ACLU and their position. Lastly, I was the individual who submitted the legislation to protect those with CHP in Maine, so give me a break. We are people too and sometimes we do not always say the perfect words at the right time, but if you want clarification, reach out to me and do it respectfully.

If you want clarifications on my position, call me.

All the best,

Rep. Corey S. Wilson
