i was at home depot last weekend. a worker (male) came up to me and asked if I was a cop. i said, nope, just a citizen with a permit. we talekd for a few minutes and i showed him my LTC and explained the process to him and that in IN, you can CC or OC. great educating moment. he was like, 'yeah, i need to get mine'

also at old navy with wife, kid and nephew. got another 'are you a cop?' question, which i replied with the same, no, just a citizen with a permit. another oppertunity to drop some knowledge. its amazing how once people know, they make a comment to the effect of 'wow, i never knew. i should look into that' most of the time, its women. i always make the point that its incredibly easy and cheap to obtain a LTC.

a couple weeks ago i went to 5/3 bank and since i didn't know their company policy, i cc'd. i talked with my teller and asked her if she knew the policy, and told her i carry all the time. she actually said that OC was fine and that she is in the middle of waitng for her LTC to come back. she even commented that she feels safer when regular customers are packing. another bonus.

lastly, i was in the southlake mall two weeks ago. after going to a bunch of stores, i finally had a security guard come up to me and tell me to cover the gun. i said no problem and he sounded like he knew about IN laws. he said,'i know you have the right to carry, but this is private property and we need you to cover it up.' so i said sure and pulled my shirt over it. then when we came out of another store, he said his boss said it was against mall policy to allow guns in the mall and that i needed to either check it into a locker or lock it in my car. again, he was very personable and reiterated the point that it was private property and the mall doesn't want guns. he even said he had his own 1911 (which is ironic since he can only carry pepper spray as a mall cop). i ended up leaving and not asking for official policy b/c i was with my wife and kid and my wife gets a little ticked when i start to challenge authority (she says do it when she's not there and doesn't have to wait while i argue). fair enough. anybody else OC at the southlake mall? this is the only place i've been asked to cover and/or remove my gun.
