HA!

Don't be a menace to south central while drinkin' your juice in the hood.... perhaps the carrying of a missile in the back of one's truck is on the extreme end of the right to keep and bear arms, but hey, who the hell is going to mess with that person?

it was a very funny movie to start. but after about an hour, the skits were in reference to movies i had never seen, so the humor was lost on me. the kids thought it was hilarious. i liked the one where he was trying to match his handgun to his shoes. one thing we need, is someone to have an avitar of "ashtray', so we can all greet him on here with; ashtray, you old m*******! as for the missle in the back of the truck, it was probably one of the old soviet nukes he bought off of ebay:D

Hmmm, your kids watched it? As long as they know it's a satire, I don't want them to grow up thinking the wrong thing :)

Let's see, it spoofs quite a few movies but off the top of my head (and from the title of the movie):

Menace II Society, South Central, Juice, BoyzN the Hood, Higher Learning, Dead Presidents, etc, etc. It's all over the place.

kids is a relative term; teens. i let them decide who they like and don't like, and how to view the world. the movie was of the same garbage as the bomb and kill video games they play (to me). it ain't real, i think they know that. just something to laugh at on a cold night in wisconsin, and nothing else was on.

I got a new one for the list!

The new Sherlock Holmes movie with Robert Downey and Jude Law. Both the detective and the good doctor were sure never to go unarmed. In one scene, Watson tells Holmes he can't go with him on his latest job, so Holmes purposely leaves his revolver behind, knowing that when Watson sees it he will fear for his friend and bring his revolver to him.

And aside from that, it was a romping good story, with action and brains.

Two straight to video movies I saw on Netflix Streaming:

Beer For MY Horses - local "hick" deputies vs. Mexican drug lords. Action-comedy.

The Other Side - slightly silly horror-action film that starts off really badly,
and just gets better as it goes along.

Both definitely pro-gun.

It's probably been mentioned before several times, but I don't have time to wade through 16 pages: The Patriot. Nine-year olds with guns! What's this world coming to?

Or rather, where did it come from?

And pony-tails! Just about all the men, young and hold, were sporting a pony-tail!

PS: I wear my hair in a pony-tail.

I think what I've taken from this thread is while there are a lot of movies about or involving guns, very few movies here that I've seen indicate any kind of pro-gun stance (except for Red Dawn. Fairly certain the sentiments of the filmmakers here is unmistakable). I liked Jericho as well because they never even made an express point about guns. The citizens owned guns. They owned guns and had to use them because the bad guys also had guns.

I wonder if it would even be possible to push a movie with a very specific pro-gun theme through Hollywood.

But there have been several storylines that involve self-defense-related themes. In one episode, Captain Kirk was forced to fight unarmed against a bigger, stronger alien, and after getting nowhere with fists or throwing rocks, he actually contsructs his own makeshift hand cannon and makes black powder out of minerals on the planet's surface. (That should really be a Mythbusters episode).
They did, it was busted...

Want to reach a little?

Not pro-gun, but pro-protection.

The Breakfast Club...

The switchblade used in the movie actually belonged to Judd Nelson. He explained that he had it for protection purposes.
