So, our President is going to Madison today. I see that he has caught on, and is holding this showingat a school (zone is for sure). I will admit, I do not like the idea of "gun rights" people with AR's hanging around a President that they do not like. This Presidential "speaking" that I refers to, was the first one that any AR (that we could see) was ever at (in the hands of us).

This first AR should be about $10,000 now...

I still say that if this would have been posted, we could have gotten a good turn out on a side street location, out of "the zone".And the news would have eaten it up.

I stand by my vote, and still, would do the same today. I can understand the need to not let any guns into the venue, but at the same time, I like the idea of a very close showing of the 2A, at work.

Yea, I know...

I stand on the right side, but bend to the left...

I just like the idea of the rest of the state seeing a few 2a people on the news in Wisconsin, to help get the word out. We need a lot more members.

If you support him, wear an Obama shirt while open carrying. The media would probably just cut the shirt out of the shot though in the same fashion they cut the exposed skin out of the shot of the black guy. But, THAT would really help :)

You know, that's not a bad idea. A few people wearing Obama shirts and holstered handguns would be a nice anti-partisan message, I think.

I'm not an Obama fan, but I believe his supporters ought to be just as fully armed as the rest of us. And they ought to show it! :)

If I was forced to wear an obanana shirt around here, I would be dodging bullets, literally!!

Someonemight be able to get away with that in the summertime when we areoverrun by Chicago & Milwaukee liberal-minded tourists, But now that it is nobody but us northwoods folk. I could probably expect to be listed as "Gone Missing" in the local paper.

Aaron,
I am flabbergasted that you could support the most anti-2A, communistic, controversialpresidential candidate in this country's history. And then state that fact on a forum dedicated to firearm ownership and our right to carry. All the things he has consistently shown he is entirely against.
In my eyes, It does nothing for your credibilty.

As our President, what anti-gun stuff has Obama done? Did I miss some big change in our gun laws? You call him the most anti 2A president in this country's history? Did you forget about Ron, and his gun bans? What did Bush ever do for your gun rights?

Based on his voting record, he is VERY anti-2A. Not to mention the hundreds of other ways he wants to destroy this country and piss all over the Constitution....

As our President, what anti-gun stuff has Obama done?
I can answer that with one word!!
Sotomayor!!

I look at people past actions to get a good grasp of their future performance.

During his first run for the Illinois Senate in 1996, Mr. Obanana said on a candidate questionnaire that he supported legislation to "ban the manufacture, sale and possession of handguns."

Mr. Obama has supported handgun bans even when they trap people who defend themselves. In a 2003 case, a resident of Wilmette, Ill., used a handgun to defend himself from a burglar with a drug habit and a long criminal record, breaking into his home for the second day in a row. Though authorities found the shooting justified, the armed citizen was charged with possessing a handgun in violation of Wilmette's handgun ban.

Illinois lawmakers proposed legislation that would make self-defense an "affirmative defense" against prosecution for handgun possession in towns like Wilmette. Mr. Obanana voted four times against the measure, which passed over his opposition, and over a veto by Illinois' anti-gun governor, Rod Blagojevich, a long-time Obanana ally.

In 2004, he said he was "consistently on record and will continue to be on record as opposing concealed carry," and that he'd back "federal legislation that would ban citizens from carrying weapons, except for law enforcement." Mr. Obanana had already put that anti-self-defense belief into action in 2001, voting against a state Senate bill that would have allowed people who receive protective orders - such as domestic violence victims - to carry firearms. Why? Because, in Mr. Obanana's world, "authorizing potential victims to carry firearms would potentially lead to a more dangerous rather than less dangerous situation … It was a bad idea and I'm glad it failed," he said.

Mr. Obama also claims he's no threat to hunters.

But in 2005, he voted for a ban on all but the smallest rifle ammunition used for hunting (or for anything else). If the measure had passed, it would have classified most rifle ammunition beyond the low-powered .22 caliber as "armor piercing ammunition," prohibited for civilian manufacture by federal law. The ammunition ban was hardly Mr. Obama's first act against hunters, either. In 1999, Mr. Obama proposed increasing firearm and ammunition excise taxes by 500 percent. Right now, a rifle that a manufacturer sells for $500 carries an excise tax of $55. Under Mr. Obama's proposal, that amount would rocket to $330. This would turn a tax willingly paid by sportsmen, which funds many of our wildlife conservation programs, into a tool to punish gun buyers.

Also, while Mr. Obama promises hunters, "I will not take your shotgun away," his votes tell a different story.

In 2003, while serving on the Illinois state Senate's Judiciary Committee, Mr. Obama voted for a bill that would have banned (as so-called "semi-automatic assault weapons") most single-shot and double-barreled shotguns, along with hundreds of models of rifles and handguns. If the bill had passed, any Illinois resident who possessed one of these guns 90 days after legislation went into effect, would have faced felony charges. What was that about not taking shotguns away?

As if voting for anti-gun plans wasn't bad enough, Mr. Obama also helped pay for them. He was a board member from 1994 to 2001 of the anti-gun Joyce Foundation, which is the largest source of funding for radical anti-gun groups in the country. On Mr. Obama's watch, Joyce donated $18.6 million to approximately 80 anti-gun efforts, including $1.5 million to the Violence Policy Center, the nation's most aggressive gun-prohibitionist group. Many of the Joyce Foundation's projects were aimed at editing the Second Amendment out of the Constitution.

But an Obama Supreme Court could do that more directly. Mr. Obama has said he would not have nominated Justices Antonin Scalia and Clarence Thomas to the Supreme Court. It was Justice Scalia who wrote the majority opinion in D.C. v. Heller, which declared that the Second Amendment protects an individual's right to keep and bear arms, and that D.C.'s handgun ban is unconstitutional. Justice Thomas joined in that opinion. As a member of the U.S. Senate, Mr. Obama also voted against confirming Chief Justice John Roberts and Justice Samuel Alito, both of whom joined Justice Scalia's majority opinion in Heller. That means four of the five pro-freedom votes on the Supreme Court would not have been there under an Obama presidency.

This is the real Barack Obama. This record matches the attitude Mr. Obama revealed when he said rural Pennsylvanians are "bitter" and "cling to guns." This record matches what you would expect to emerge from a Chicago political machine where an unrepentant terrorist is "respectable" and "mainstream."

Finally, with no way to run from his record, Mr. Obama resorts to the ultimate political dodge. Does he support gun registration? "I don't think that we can get that done." Banning guns? "I couldn't get it done. I don't have the votes in Congress."

These efforts to ease gun owners' fears should make any gun owner ask, "Wait … why is he counting all these votes already?" Instead of this not-so-reassuring rhetoric, gun owners deserve the truth. And the truth is clear: Barack Obama would be the most anti-gun president in history - bar none.

Do you really need me to go on?? Becuase I can. For several days and pages.

You do have me on the Sotomayor issue. We all know how she feels about guns. But again, I have yet to see any new anti-gun laws...

I do not feel bad about my vote at all (this could change though).

I do not feel bad about my vote at all (this could change though).
Regan signed into law the Firearm Owners Protection Act, that overhauled the Gun Control Act of '68 and made purchasing and possessing firearms alot more gun owner friendly. The downside, it essentially banned fully automatic weapons. I've heard where some say it outright banned them, while also hearing that it banned the ATF from accepting money to register them....in the end the result is the same though.

Bush (41) was not pro-gun. He signed an executive order banning the import of some semi-automatic weapons, which, if they had been manufactured in the U.S., would be completely legal.

Clinton..."Assault" weapons ban, Brady Registration....I mean, Background check.

Bush (43) Protection of Lawful Commerce in Arms Act (prevents frivolous lawsuits against gun manufactures), allowed "Assault" weapons ban to expire, Law Enforcement Officers Safety Act (nationwide carry for current & retired LEO's), Disaster Recovery Personal Protection Act (Bans any government agency that receives federal money from confiscating firearms during states of emergency, like what happened after Hurricane Katrina), Appointed Justices Roberts and Alito (both very pro-gun), Appointed John Bolton as U.N. Secretary (he said the U.S. will not sign any agreement which violates the 2nd Amendment. Changed National Park rules to allow concealed carry as allowed by state law.

He also had some anti-gun leanings. He said he would sign a renewed AWB if it came to his desk. He supported raising the age to 21 for ALL handgun purchases.

Obama, in addition to his record listed above, he signed the law forcing lands under control by the U.S. government to follow state firearms laws (which is a good thing, however he was essentially forced to do it because Sen Tom Coburn attached it to a credit card overhaul bill that Obama really wanted to be signed. The Democrats in congress didn't have enough votes to remove the amendment from the bill. Pres. Obama would NEVER have signed the gun bill on its own.) Appointed Sotomayor, who is very anti-gun. Then, look at all his cabinet picks, all very anti-gun, some very anti-hunting to the point where one believes that animals should be able to sue people in court.

Yooper, thanks for the quick break down, it is very good. Short, and to the point.

So who is the best out of the last 4 or 5? Who is, or was the worst? You tell me, all of them have kicked us in the nutz...

Allowing a man with an AR to stand less then a block away from a place that he is giving a speech is a new one for all of them. His security could have had this man removed (yea, States rights are real nice to talk about), but he told them not to. Do you ever remember anything like this... ever? I worked in downtown Milwaukee the last time Bush-2 came to town (he went to Johnson Controls). We were told by his security, not to stand to close to our windows! The U.S. S.S. back then, would have at best had any person with an open gun removed. I am not to sure what the SS would have done if you were seen a half block from Bush, with an AR... I would not want to be that guy...

So who hates you? I don't know. You tell me. And now, now we start this tea party stuff? What took so long? Why did it wait until we had the first Black president? The tax issue is not new at all... But for some reason, it took Obama to get it started? Like he is the first to spend money that we do not have?... The Bush war in Iraq has cost more then 10 years of "free" health care... And we do not use their oil! Why the hell did we ever go into Iraq? Ask the Bush men... Between the two of them we have lost a lot of our young people... And this "war" is not near over... And now the "tea" party feels that it is Obamas' fault? Fox News (the tea party) needs a full body flush. Fox gave up on reporting the news, and now is doing it's best to make the news... I sure hope you can see this...

For real, you try to tell me that any President you have cast a vote for was any better? Who was this person that was so good? I want his name... And I want to know what he did that was so good, in your eyes.

And you think I should feel bad that I support our President? You, and I (we all) should have a little vomit in our mouth... The President has not supported us in a long time...You find us a better one... We can test it out next time around.

Specifically pertaining to "open carry" which is what this forum is for, we have not had a president since our founding fathers who has advanced the right to carry.

We need to elect a president like Ron Paul, or someone who closely shares his beliefs. He has never voted for a tax increase, never voted for an unbalanced budget, never voted for gun control, and doesn't vote for anything that violates the constitution. He would abolish the IRS, Department of Education, Federal Reserve, among many others. He believes the federal government should be as intended, which is very limited in its powers.

I doubt anyone will find any politician that follows the constitution as strictly as Rep Paul does, but I'm afraid our country will continue to erode until a person like him is elected with a congress who is willing to give his agenda a try.

Aaron, I honestly mean no disrespect to you. We are basically all in the same fight together on this board. Do you know how much you sound like a "Flaming Liberal'? It really seams like you are ignoring many facts about our current president. The "Lefties" speak out of emotion, and hopes, and seem to over look the real facts. Fox has to be taken with a grain of salt, but, at least there is one media outlet that is willing to show us a different side of what is really going on. Burying our heads, and hoping Washington will make all the right decesions for us, (on every aspect of our lives), is not going to cut it for me. It sure seems like the majority of Americans are starting to feel the same way. One of the best quotes I have seen "If your not outraged, you are not paying attention".

His racial heritage has absolutely nothing to do with these protests, I am one of the most racist MF'ers you'll ever wanna meet. And my disdain for this person has nothing to do with the color of his skin.

I don't think it is so much of Spending money that we do not have that is causing the protests,
it is what he is spending it on and thethick communist overtones of him and his "czars". Look at the people he is appointing to these positons, they are all communists! How much stake des the govt. now own in GM? Banks? and other corp.'s?

I have learned that a man defines himself by the company he keeps. and his closest friends and appointeesare all communist gun-grabbing race-baitingfreaks!

"Redistributing the wealth" Whatthe fukcdoes that mean?
Taking money from the wealthy men in this country who worked hard to get what they have got, and give it to the onesthat would rather notwork? (In the obanana dictionary, wealthy is clearly used as a speudonymmeaning white)

Backing the idea's of his communication czar's. Take away talk-radio from white people and give it to black people just because they are black (blacks make up 12%-13% of the population) and also have "Government run & approved" radio stations!

The only time that I have ever heard the word "Czar" used in a sentence, was during high school when we werelearning about the communist USSR!! Oh, BTW. The Berlin wall was still standing when I graduated high school.

The guy is bad news for this country, and the people that work hard in this country. He is clearing the path to try and make everyone dependent on the governement, make them into subjects instead of free-thinking citizens and it irks the hell out of me!!

Burying our heads, and hoping Washington will make all the right decesions for us, (on every aspect of our lives), is not going to cut it for me. It sure seems like the majority of Americans are starting to feel the same way. One of the best quotes I have seen "If your not outraged, you are not paying attention".

I do not care if you want to call me liberal. It will not be the first time on this site. I can live with it. I do not vote on any party line. I am not a member of any party. You have to try to understand, I am not on the right or left. You also say "It really seams like you are ignoring many facts about our current president." I have to respond with "it looks to me like you have forgotten your past Presidents actions".

Fox is not showing a "different" side, they make the news, to show the news.

Metalman383, you post; One of the best quotes I have seen "If your not outraged, you are not paying attention". I used to say this same thing every time Bush-2 was on TV talking...

Nutczak you post; "...I am one of the most racist MF'ers you'll ever wanna meet." Thanks for letting me know. That's all I needed to hear. I will do my best to remember this, when I read your posts. I could only hope the other users of this forum will do the same. I guess you and I will never be best friends, oh well. I will still do my best to protect your rights. Hope you can live with that. You do not have MUCH choice (I have posted my home address on this forum a few times, so I guess you could come down and try to hang me).

Gotta love the pathetic "Blame Bush" defense that progressives and liberals are so eager to offer up.

Just because the last president was a complete idiot who trashed the constitution, spent too much money and sought to expand the American Empire doesn't give permission for the new guy to do the same things (only faster).

Yes, Bush was a terrible president in almost every respect, and so is Obama (whose pre-president behavior can't be denied or ignored).
