Possible OC/CC meet

So lately I have had a itch to do some shooting, Im sure there are many here who feel my pain. Also I have been interested in IDPA shooting but discouraged by fees and the HUGE list of rules.

My idea, what does everyone think of a OC/CC meet shooting contest similar to IDPA, casual dress usual holster . Different classes like OC w/ permit loaded, OC utah loaded for ppl w/o permit, CC. Sorta split up by revolvers and autos.

We could slap together some silhouette targets with 2x4 frames or similar, held down by sand bags.

Of course BYOA

Think it could be done or would it be to much to put together.

Any ideas and input appreciated

I have contemplated that as well and will talk to the range and see what we can do.
Range? I must have missed that I thought it would be on the West side of the UT Lake?
That is where I was thinking and really the only place Ive ever been. It was suggested I look into the WSA http://www.wahsatchshooters.com/Main.aspx which I have and am currently working on organizing it.

Ok, some what of an update, Im currently working on securing a sat in July looking to be the 10th.

I am up for that, and suggest maybe hold it on a Friday evening and finish off the shoot with some low light shooting.

I did bring this up and the response I got was, It is not out of the question but we do need to advise the PD of it, and have a responsible RO.

As for the IDPA set up I was told they do not allow drawing from a holster so may have to come up with something else or just pull from our hip.

Ok, forget it then!

I am a RSO and it is just a liability issue for that range I can understand that thinking. However, not allowing to draw from a holster, out to the Desert we go, drawing from a holster/hip, while side stepping backwards, I'm down for that!

Not drawing from the holster? We might has well go out to Lee Kay!

Bang, wait a second, bang wait a second, 15 minutes later, "shooters make clear, step behind the blue line, range is closed, go get your targets. That is fine if you are shooting a rifle, but a handgun? No thank you.

The Provo range on Squaw Peak road has no problem with drawing from a holster. I am an RSO for the Provo range and could probably arrange an evening shoot activity.

How would June 18 work for everyone?
