Does that location increase the chances that you would arrive on time?:D
stay safe.
No, but it greatly reduces the amount by which I'm likely to be late. I live ten minutes from the restaurant.
Living close by doesn't reduce the overdue time. Still dependent on when you leave. The fact that you can be late sooner not withstanding.

OC in Bealeton

While driving to Culpeper, I stopped in Bealeton for groceries (Food Lion), gas, and a meal (Agave Mexican Restaurant). No problems.

Also, while driving through Warrenton, I passed Clark's Brothers Gun Shop (off of Rt. 15). It appears they have and outdoor range associated with their store. I never knew it existed and I didn't have time to stop and check it out. Has anybody been there? Thoughts about the store/range?

Store is decent. Very old building but they stock much more than most gun stores. Lots of huge safes, very old guns (ww2 era and civil war crap), deep ammo inventory, cleaning supplies and range supplies, etc. They're always quick to help a customer and well staffed.

But with all that stuff and a range the place is very popular so movement in the store is difficult at times. Additionally they run abouy 6-12 months behind other brick and mortar shops pricing wise. This means if you can find a glock 23 for $500 online and $550 locally, it's probably $600 there.

The range is actually fairly amazing. No complaints. It's free to use (after getting a range card inside) and has a decent setup. There are 8, 7-yard pistol bays , 2 15-yard pistol bays and maybe 14 rifle bays at 25, 50, and 100 yards. Only shooting restriction is one shot every 2 seconds.

I've found very little wrong with the range itself, although online, people complain about the staff being rude and not being able to draw and shoot from a holster.

The one downside, and it's costly, is they force you to buy and shoot their ammo. I'm a .40 cal guy so I buy online at bulkammo. 1000 rounds for roughly $300 which translates to $15 for a brick of 50. At Clark bro after tax you're getting a brick of 50 for about $29. I don't think I've ever shot less than 150 rounds so it certainly adds up. Typically I sneak my own ammo in because of the significant markup. If it was $19 vs $15 I'd pay it, but a 90+% markup is just gouging.

Beyond that, you can always get a lane except at opening on Saturday and Sunday morning. Odds are you'll have to wait 15-30 minutes.

How'd y'all feel about dinner at the Northside 29 in New Baltimore sometime soon? At present, only Tuesday evenings are bad for me; lunch or dinner?

I'm in. I prefer a lunch but could do a dinner with no problem. Just have to check the date once agreed upon. The Shawn's BBQ trip was a good one earlier this year so your suggestion is welcome, indeed.

Have you ever been to EA Clore furniture in Madison? Was at a B&b in Lynchburg and the owner had one of their rockers - he got as a wedding gift 50 years ago - best rocker I've ever sat in . Clore has been there since mid-1800s.

Absolutely. They make some of the finest furniture in Virginia. Not to mention there are only two places anyone visiting Madison will go to: Clore Furniture and the Pig and Steak restaurant.

Tom & Suzie's NY Bagel Deli - Bristow, Va.

Tried this place for the first time today. It is a relatively new deli that has been open for business for about one year.

This place is a 5-star OC-friendly place. One of the owners, Suzie, even told me that if another customer doesn't like open-carry, then THEY can leave! And, in case you are wondering, we thought the food was very good.

If anyone on this forum is in the Gainesville/Bristow/Manassas area, I encourage you to stop by to support this place. We really need more businesses/people like them around!

June 2 "Wear Orange"

I didn't have a "guns save lives" T-shirt, so I figured I'd wear my gray VCDL polo shirt, my "Armed Citizens Legal Defense" ball cap, and open carry my 4" N frame S&W model 28 (.357). Went to the CVS on Blackwell Rd in Warrntn (the locals pronounce the name as if it had no vowells), then to Rankins Hdw, Tractor Supply Co., and Home Depot. No one raised an eyebrow. A guy waiting in line behind me to check out at Home Depot complimented me on "the piece", told me about his Dan Wesson .357 revolver.

No holsters allowed in PW district courthouse

I had a need to go to the courthouse in Manassas this week. As I entered, I took off my belt with my (empty) holster attached and placed it on the belt to be scanned. The security guard told me I could not have a holster in the building and would have to return it to my vehicle. I asked to speak with the supervisor to confirm that this was, indeed, policy and was directed to a SGT Spera. His position was that someone could see the holster and immediately think there was a gun and raise an alarm. I asked about concealed carry holsters that are not visible to the public (pocket holsters, in-the-waist, etc.) and he said that holsters of any type are not permitted.

Thought I would share my experience so that others can avoid this inconvenience. If anyone has been to the courthouse, it can sometimes be a long walk back to your car.

Hocus pocus BS. His "position" is meaningless.

Many have OCd empty holsters in numerous courthouses - myself included.

I don't think the VA Governor nor the Legislature outlawed wearing or even carrying an empty holster.

I could not agree with you more. That is one of the reasons I thought I would share my story on OCDO.

After speaking with the initial officer I asked to speak with the shift supervisor who, after consultation with the first officer, said sorry, no holsters allowed. After returning the holster to my vehicle I returned and then asked to speak to the general supervisor. Bottom line: whether they were being lawful or not, I had no other option except to return to my vehicle as they weren't going to let me in.

I know User occasionally has business at the PW courthouse. Maybe he will chime in or speak to the appropriate people there to find out what's going on.

I have had the same problem in the Campbell County Court House. Deputy claimed it was based on an order by the Circuit Court Judge.

Would not even permit the black nylon belt pouch for a Gerber Multi Tool or the sleeve type belt pouch for a Mini Mag light.

I think it was garbage and pleasantly advised him of that, but did take those back to my vehicle as I was not permitted to enter the building with them.

Because the Gerber had a knife blade I had left that when I first went in and its next to the Mini Mag so it stayed to keep Gerber company.
