My wife is pro carry. She will likely get her permit, but probably will not carry often, she has an Sp101 ready whenever she wants to though.

My wife liked my Glock 32 so much that she called it her's and started practicing with it. I went ahead and bought a glock 29 for myself. Then one day she feels she "needs some type of safety" :banghead:

We went thru a few guns from the safe and a couple shops to find something she might like. Found her a nice H&K USPc 9mm that is now "her gun".
Now after a couple different holsters purchases she finally has her's set up like she wants.

I got my Glock 32 back!

My girlfriend refuses to carry...

...less guns on her than me. If I carry two she insists on packing three. Dammit. Women. Gotta love 'em. :)

(not just for the sake of the joke, but this happened on at least two occasions. She had the Revolver, the LCP in a conceal shirt and the Walther on her hip). I think she has a rich fantasy life, almost on par with mine, lol.

My wife supports me with CC, does not like OC, because someone may see us. So, I OC, when I am alone. She is OK with getting certified to CC. We have purchased her one .380 and she is good with that for now. However; I would like her to have training other than what I can provide. I am very confident and practice as often as possible, but have a great interest in Calico Jack's two day course he last offered on this site. The more training I get is better for me, my family and whom ever.
Calico, if you see this please PM me about any upcoming courses for me along with my wife.

Wife carries when possible, (she is not always well enough.) Supports me with my carry, 100%. Has my six. She has always backed me up at the house (several times with late night visiters. ) Was scared at first out in the open, didn't like the idea of a confrontation over it but after Woodman's kicked us out over a year ago (almost immediately resolved with Woodman's following state law), she was so P.O.d, that they would do that, she has become an ardent supporter.

Since then, she has reveled in carrying her own 9mm. She is a sharp shooter with that little nine. She would encourage any woman to carry herself or at the very least to support her husband/boyfriend 100%. She has no time at all for liberal pandering women who bleet out the Wave mantra. She refers to them in what can only be described as an unflattering manner.

Guns can be scary to a lot of women but now days, there are so many women who carry and or shoot that it can hardly be justified. You can trace most of the reticence to their parents or education. Or in actuality, lack of education. Best to start with a .22 probably. Easy on the recoil. My wife had no such luxury. She started shooting with a .357 Ruger GP100. 6 inch barrel and red dot scope to boot. Had a bit of a bark. She could hit clays out to 50 yards with that gun. Really.

Thanks for all the replies. I asked because I had the "gun" talk with my fiancee a couple days ago. She did say she wants to go shooting once and I think she'll like it. She's very open minded. I have taken a few women shooting in the past and they all loved it. I doubt she will carry but I did tell her that we can carry here and she didn't say anything about it. I will defiantly show her how to handle them in case she has to move them when I'm not at home....don't want any accidents.

My wife's been around guns most of her life, and she's hunted with a 30/30 for deer. However, she no longer hunts, and the first year I went deer hunting with her she accidentally dropped her 30/30 out of her stand about 125 yards from me and had a negligent discharge. Her 30/30's so old it doesn't have a safety on it, and the ND is what I think made her hate guns. She doesn't want me open or conceal carrying any of my guns out in public, and yet she says she still likes to target shoot, even though I haven't been able to get her to do it in the last few years. I held a meet-and-greet at a culvers and she was furious at me, because she thought I was going to hang out with a bunch of trigger-happy whackjobs, well after I got her to let me go and while I was there, I texted her one of the ladies that showed up was carrying as well. She didn't like that either. After Culvers, our group went to Wal-Mart and shopped, and she still couldn't see our reason for doing it. She's safe in the everyday routine of things, and doesn't think anything bad can happen where we shop. In all likelihood that's probably true, but the one place I don't like going into without my firearm is gas stations, my wife is the same way when she's withdrawing money from the Kwik Trip, she won't do it unless I'm with her. My sister was actually a cashier once at a BP and a guy came in, held a gun to her head, and demanded money while she had the cash drawer open. I think that's what concerns me the most and is the main reason I carry, because I don't want someone I love or anyone else for that matter in a criminals hands.

So as you can see I'm in a weird situation, I'm thinking when this law goes live if she hasn't changed her mind I'll continue to carry when she's not with me, but at times when she is, I'll just carry a smaller, more concealable gun. We'll see how things turn out though, I'm betting I can get her to at least tolerate me carrying concealed.

Pyro -- PM me if you want that book I'm talking about. Provided she's open minded enough to read it, sounds like she is a prime candidate for it, and I believe my wife is done reading it.

Some similar things here regarding Wife's thoughts on things. I took my wife with me on a luncheon meet at the biggest Culver's in the state. She then realized that we are normal hard working and average people. No people demonstrating and pushing things down your throat. That was the best thing I have done. She talked to some other ladies whom at that time were not interested in OC or CC.
Take her to a luncheon.

I remember a really cool couple sitting next to us at that luncheon . We hope your neighbor's house (and your neighborhood) is a little safer since our last meeting.

Glock Girl is 100% in favor. She's also an instructor and at some point will partner with me teaching my course. We're also discussing putting together a "ladies only" course--- hopefully soon too.

Well, as I said, I held an OC meet and greet and she didn't feel like going then. I suppose I could hold another one and give her a little more warning this time that I want to hold it.

So, I think I figured out the main cause of my wife's fear of carrying open or concealed.

Well, last night when we were going to Culver's with a friend, my wife and I hopped in his car with his 3 year old son. I sat in the front and noticed he had a sheathed hatchet right in the drivers's seat crevice and I told him to be careful having it right there. My reasoning being that if he got pulled over for speeding and he forgot he had it there, a cop upon seeing it as he walked up could get him on a concealed weapons charge because I was pretty sure a hatchet with just the sheath could be considered a concealed weapon within reach. Anyways, I told him that'd change in November because they signed the concealed carry bill in(which applies to all weapons), and he surprised me when he said" Oh $**t". I asked him why he thought that and he said a bunch of crazy people are going to be walking around with guns. Right then and there my wife blurted out, "Exactly!" I told him they have to apply for a permit to carry concealed(didn't even mention open carry) and that they have to pass a background check and fulfill the training requirements, and my wife chimed in again, which is rare, she said "Well, what about the people who haven't done anything wrong and can buy a gun and get a permit, and then go out and shoot someone?" Unfortunately, they wanted to stop talking about it after then so we could enjoy our meal, but my retort would have been, "If anyone was planning on doing that, they wouldn't need to get a permit in the first place and could carry concealed illegally, they're essentially already a criminal and are going to do it anyways. However, the law was passed so that those applying for a permit must have proof of training on how to safely handle a weapon. Those who are inclined to apply for a permit are probably going to try and take the time to learn how to shoot the gun so they don't injure themselves and are able to hit their target. 48 other states have concealed carry and don't have those problems, I doubt WI is going to be any diffferent."

It'll come up another time though, If that's what my wife is worried about, then I have less to worry about because it's not really about me, but the other people she doesn't know. She knows in the back of her head I'm probably going to do it anyways and that she's going to have to get used to it. Even though I didn't get as far as I wanted to on the topic, I now have a better idea on the main reason why she hates guns so much.
