Please define "constitutional carry."
Constitutional Carry is a great marketing term to reduce statutory limits on carry firearms sans permits. It gets applied to a wide variety of legal proposals each of which seems intended to advance RKBA from whether it is in a given local, to something a bit better.
Far too often pro-gun types foolishly dismiss the importance of good marketing.
The enemies of freedom understand well the importance of catchy and positive sounding names.
What exactly is classically "liberal" about most of the policies put forward by today's so-called liberals? Toward what are "progressive" actually progressing?
Was there anything really affordable about the "Affordable Care Act"? But it sure sounds and sells better than "socialized medicine" or even "Obamacare" or the older "Hillarycare". Notice that even supporters of full out socialized medicine have rebranded that as "single payer care."
Our opponents did not ban "self-defense items". The go after "assault weapons" and "high capacity magazines". We assume they are idiots because they don't know the difference between full auto and semi-auto. Many of them know full well the difference. They are simply more than willing to lie because "full auto assault weapons" are much easier to ban than are "low recoil sporting rifles."
Notice the great effort put into getting positive sounding acronyms for legislation. "The DREAM act" just sounds so nice. It is obvious that "Development, Relief, and Education for Alien Minors" is horribly mangled construct to get to "DREAM". But DREAM is way better sounding than "rewarding kids for their parents bad conduct" or even "extending anchor baby status to everyone younger than 18 who crosses our borders illegally".
On the flip side, "Am I not a man and your brother" had powerful effect in its day as the rallying cry against slavery.
Successful businesses spend huge sums of money on branding, logos, and advertising. The fairly rare mistakes in these areas are fodder for late night comedy routines.
But we always get a few faux intellectuals within the RKBA community who want to pick nits over whether a term we use is perfectly accurate or not.
We all know the "Hearing Protection Act" has a lot less to do with protecting hearing than with just getting the BATFE out of our knickers. But nothing wrong with pushing the angle that has best public appeal potential.
We must not lie or cheat the way our enemies and opponents too often do. But we can certainly be smart about what terminology we use, how we market and brand. I expect "Constitutional Carry" will get used in various forms for a lot of different and advancing legislation.
