OK. Let's not blow this whole thread out of proportion. No one came even close to saying that.
Sure they came close. The premise that to promote open carry one should appear normal was indicated by many.

Hard core punk rockers, bikers, mountain men, hippies, slobs...all have the same right to open carry and should never be discouraged from participating in their natural right to self defense.

I would strongly suggest that you refrain from open carry.

Pat you seem to be on a vendetta against the younger ones amongst us... I strongly suggest you rethink this strategy as the alienation of young people who are just starting out OCing or will be soon is not headed anywhere good.

I would suspect he is leaning more toward the responsibility factor of keeping an openly carried firearm uncovered.

Not speaking for CPat, just thinking out loud.

I noticed that as well. He also has(had) a vendetta against Stainless, though, too. He is my age. On second thought, I'm not certain he has a target age group...

Pat...in my opinion you have nothing positive to say about anything regarding carrying a firearm...your in a Pro 2A Pro OC site yet all i see from you is advice not to carry, not to meet up....if your so opposed to it then why are you here?..when i turn 18...May 7th...im going to the Warren PD and acquiring a pistol purchase permit...after which i will be buying a nice big 1911...and openly carrying said firearm whenever i see fit, as is my right. Im not only starting to doubt your support for OC, but for our 2A rights in general. Im not taking your suggestion to heart, and actually find it almost insulting. Simply because i dont look good enough i shouldn't OC?? i have 2 choice words for you...although i will refrain from posting them.

Where did you get that from in my post???

I asked if that was how he open carried.

His response was yes, that's how he Open Carries.

I strongly suggested that he refrains from it because he is a minor and there are severe legal implications for his continued possession of a firearm.

IMO dress as you normaly would when OCing.

But from personal experience, the few negative encounters Ive had (that remained negative and I wasnt able to effectivly turn into positive training experiences) I was significantly dressed down from my normal attire. One of them I had just left a tree cutting job and was in a dirty work shirt, boots, and dirty jeans, and went to Best Buy in Jackson, a place I had OCd many times before with no issue. Was it my dirty work clothes that made that time the problem? I say yes but who knows.

If it was out of the norm for that place it would tend to draw attention to you.... just as there is little hard evidence that OCing deters crime it is hard to prove that how you dressed changed the way they reacted to you.

All right you all convinced me.

Let's do this right. All OCers MUST be between 6' and 6.4" and weight between 165 and 185 lbs. They must be white only with blue eyes and blond hair. Females are welcome but only if they meet the above profile. No facial hair (men and woman--it's barbaric). Those that do not conform to this standard will be allowed to CC only with the proper papers

They MUST dress in brown shirts with black pants when out in public and when at MOC, Inc. events. Don't forget the arm band.

Evening wear will require a black tie with a brown jacket.

Summer is coming so from May 31st until September 15th black shorts with brown short sleeved shirts are allowed.

Also since LEOs tend to "make contact" with younger OCers, no one under the age of 40 will be allowed to OC, coordinate get togethers or speak in public. Those under 40 may attend events but only in subservient ways, cooking, clean-up, carrying heavy items, etc.

Below is typical evening wear and for media interviews.

Pat, IF your referring to me, i do NOT carry a firearm at any time, I, as stated above will be buying my pistol in early may. At that time i will be 18 and will legally own, and be carrying my firearm. I simply asked how i could get around not wearing a hoodie and tucking in my shirt...does anyone know where i could buy a secure drop leg holster for a 1911?

It's official...this thread has jumped the shark. I'll leave this is my last comment in it. I will always dress neat when I'm OCing in public. It is my suggestion that MOC leadership always do so also. I will never suggest everyone else has to. Nuff said.

You said so. Why else would I strongly suggest that you not?

Do you think I give a rat's a$$ how you dress?

I was commenting on unlawful activity that you said you do.

This is all you need to say, lead by example.Let all the great pro-gun people decide how they want to dress.

I suggest MOC, Inc. represent and not forget thegreat cross-section of America that are their paying members.
