Anyone have anything to add before I email Mr. Foxx back? I'll be thinking through my response very very carefully. I'm unsure if I should argue the Open Carry position or if I should simply thank the man for his help. I'm not sure if I should push the issue; asking for a date on the posting of the sign. Should we open carry there Until a sign is posted?

I just wanted to point out; for better or for worse- there were No Signs up on Saturday. I sent the email the day before, Friday. Whatever the situation before; seems like a shiny new sign will be posted in my honor so to speak.

I'm not sure if I should feel Good or Bad about this.

I could always just not respond at all. I'll be back up there to the Conifer park soon enough as this breezy wind calms down. Maybe Friday or the weekend; next few days will be gusty. I'll surely be looking for a sign.

Code:
Dear Sir,
Any individual who has a concealed carry permit may carry his or her
concealed weapon anywhere in Colorado as long as it does not violate
State or County statues. There is no statute prohibiting the carrying
of firearms at Conifer Community Park at Beaver Ranch so long as the
person carrying has a valid Colorado Concealed Carry Permit. Open
carry weapons are prohibited and a sign shall be posted noting that
Open Carry Firearms are not permitted and that Concealed Carry
Firearms in the possession of individuals with valid Concealed Carry
Permits is permitted.
Thank you for bringing this matter to our attention.
Stan Foxx

this is why i disagree with asking for permission to OC. let sleeping dogs lie. wait for an actual incident to arise and then let them deal with it. until then, carry on. i have never asked for permission to carry anywhere. i just do it and no one has said anything yet, and no signs have been posted after i left. in my opinion, most places would prohibit OC if asked, but if not asked, it would fly below their radar.

thats just my opinion and my approach.

I totally understand Bomber. I assume the Exact approach in certain situations. The situation with this Mountain park is that the actual area and trails In and out are Large and Numerous. There are many By Ways in and out- to and from- with community signs and buildings scattered throughout a large area. What happened here is that I read the "No discharge of Firearms" rules on the park website.. I began thinking then of course they allow the carry of firearms. I wanted to be sure that I wasn't dealing with out-dating information- as often happens on the website of isolated community centers.

The fact is the area in question was just To large and To broad- I could have Easily missed a sign prohibiting the open carry of firearms. Jefferson County has a habit of automatically prohibiting the open carry of firearms in any park it gets it's hands on. Luckily this isn't a Jeffco Specific open space park- but Jeffco does have a hand in the parks regulations and policing.

All in all- they said a sign was going up and I can almost bet 100% and $100 that a sign will Not go up. If a sign Does go up- certainly will be just One sign and not a truly legal prohibition of open carry because of the various public byways into and out of the park. It'll maybe be a situation where One sign is posted at the main building- by a large parking lot- and No other signs are posted anywhere else.

I'll monitor this specific situation anyway; in case anyone wants to show up there.

Bomber- I only asked honestly because I didn't want to get busted by some Hippie Disc Golfer High on Pot freaking out because I have a gun. Stoners and drunks often play the course- already Hippified- don't need someone freaking out on me. Didn't want to get chased down by Jeffco Sheriffs either. I just asked to be safe. Like I said I doubt a legally enforceable open carry ban will even happen. If it does- so be it.

Edited for clarity: If we are talking about a store- with 1 public entrance in and Out. or a mall with 3 or 4 public entrances in and out.. I would NOT ask about OC- I would just do it. The reason being- it's easy to scope out any posted signs. It's easy to determine if the OC ban is legal or not by signage. The huge mountain park just has to many ways to get in and out.. to many areas with buildings and signs posted.. I really needed some clarity from management and really needed to be sure of my actions before I carried a loaded handgun there.
