Me and my business partner are offering free conceal carry classes. We are both NRA certified instructors and this class meets the requirements for Colorado's conceal carry permit. This is our link.

www.ConcealedCarryForFree.com

We offer these classes on a somewhat regular schedule, so please check the website often. We have classes coming up in Pueblo and Colorado Springs and we always have classes in Denver.

If you know someone who wants to get their permit but can't afford the class or has a philosophical problem with being forced to pay for something that is a Constitutional right, please refer them to our page.

We look forward to meeting you. If you have any questions, please contact us through the website. It's just easier for us that way.

bomber,

Just noticed this (yes, I am not that observant sometimes) and wanted to say "Thank You" for offering this free yet valuable service to the potential CCers out there in this area of Colorado. It's a very generous offer...

Not only could I have avoided paying for the CC class I took a while back to get my permit (although I would have paid you SOMETHING anyway) but hopefully, would have also avoided listening to that particular NRA Certified CC instructor criticizing OC, as it was clear he was completely ignorant about the subject.

BTW, some good news re: El Paso County Sheriff's Office (Terry Maketa/Colorado Springs) and the CC permit process: Apparently they are processing permits faster than I had expected -- given the 90-days (as per law) they have to get it done. I took my CC class 11-13-13, had my app't at the Sheriff's Office 11-18-13, and they mailed my permit 12-23-13. That's 41 days...not bad compared to some counties, even though some others do it even faster.

Regards...

Thanks for the support. We've heard a lot of things about a lot of instructors. You would be amazed at how awful some of these classes we hear about are, and how much people are being charged to attend. One woman told us that for $150 her entire "Conceal Carry class" consisted of the "Instructor" showing her a table of guns and describing them.

As far as I know, El Paso County is taking about 45 days right now. And they are offering their appointments usually within a day or two of when you call.

Also, one person I talked to recently applied for his permit and they allowed him to use his Hunter Safety card as his training credentials.

We always stress that more training is needed for our students, that they absolutely need to take more courses, and practice practice practice.

I spent the last twenty minutes crawling all over your site, and all I can say is...

OUTSTANDING!

Well, I can say more. I think you're providing a much-needed service, one which should not be mandatory in the first place.

Recommended? Sure:

1. Never held a firearm before? Strongly recommended.

2. Shot a few times. Nothing recently: Recommended.

3. Rent or owned, pretty good at the range: Your choice.

4. Owned for years, match shooter, or military training: "Here's your permit, Sir/Ma'am."

It should never be mandatory, but if you need it and can't afford it, perhaps you can qualify for a free class given by local law enforcement.

On a related note, I'm a big fan of Arizona's Constitutional Carry. The overwhelmingly vast majority of people know if/when they need any training or additional training.

Amen man. Except for the part about the class being given by local law enforcement. You wouldn't believe the level of deprogramming we have to do on people who come to our classes with stuff they've heard from cops about CC law, lethal force, OC, and just firearms in general.

On that note, we have another class scheduled in Colorado Springs on April 12. We just got back from Meeker and Grand Junction this last weekend where we had 116 students. And we have classes several times a week in Denver.

I hear you. I'm covered, having CC'd for 25 years, OC'd for four years, and spent time carrying all over the world in the military for a couple of decades.

I encourage you to keep posting your class dates and times. I also encourage you to include some OC information in both your classes as well as in your notices here! You'll get more students and won't run afoul of the forum's rules. :)

Been awhile since I've been here. I'm hoping to offer more classes this winter when work slows down. We are still doing the classes in Denver weekly.

We do cover OC in the class as far as the law is concerned. If students ask our opinions about it tactically, we talk a little about it as well.

Could I suggest giving the class location in the listing on the main page? (e.g., Instead of just saying "Free Concealed Carry Class Jan 17" say "Free Concealed Carry Class, Westminster, Jan 17th") Having to click on each one to try to find one near me (actually near my friends who I've been badgering to get a permit) is tiresome especially when dealing with a crappy connection.

Just saw that someone had referenced this thread from another thread. Wanted to update and say that we are still offering these classes. Usually we have at least 2 every weekend in Denver and we are offering them elsewhere when we can. We currently have one scheduled in Colorado Springs on April 16th.

We've had over 5000 people come though our classes in the last 3 years.

so a query...with the NRA significantly changing their Basic Pistol class into phase I being only on-line and $60...how are you facilitating your 'free courses' so you offer the requisite certificate of completion ~ not sure the first steps course still exist per se...

just curious

Hi Solus,

These aren't NRA courses. Colorado requires a handgun training course taught by a certified instructor, it doesn't require an NRA course.

We very occasionally offer the NRA Basic Pistol class, but the demand is very low.

I have a friend who took one of these courses in Denver, and it doesn't sound like it was the NRA Basic Pistol at all. Granted, I'm comparing it to the old version (I took mine two years ago). But he said they went through legalities and some very basic pistol handling. But nothing like what I'd experienced at all. Certainly not an enhancement.

He did say it wa a great class for people who knew the rudimentaries (like the difference between a bullet and a case, etc), but just needed the course for a CHP.

We offer whatever the students want. Most want a class that lasts 4 hours and gives them the golden ticket that the state requires in order for them to exercise their right.

We make ourselves available for everything from basic knowledge to more advanced shooting drills involving movement, reloads, etc. Most people don't take us up on that, because most people are lazy or busy and don't see the need. That is unfortunate, but we aren't in the business of forcing people to do something they don't want to do.

Our primary course covers everything you would learn in a typical half day conceal carry class in the state of Colorado. Our primary focus in every aspect of what we teach is firearm safety.

How is he winging it, He is offering a class that meets the requirements.

If he has the options of deciding the curriculum so be.

I have instructor citification's from three different organizations.

There isn't a bit of different in the basics.

If he is teaching good safe firearm handling skills and the state accepts the training it is a good thing.

You know, most of your posts don't make any sense.

By the way, this is what a-holes say when they know they are being a-holes but don't want to take responsibility for being an a-hole.

Just admit that you're over critical and want to use your limited knowledge to belittle other people. At least then you'd be honest.

I think you want me to be sorry that our classes don't meet your criteria. Tough titties.

That's fair enough. He (my friend) came away thinking it was an "NRA" course, but he didn't describe it that way at all. May have been that he misunderstood a statement from the instructor(s). But yeah, he does confirm that all he and his wife wanted was the "golden ticket" you mentioned. He'll be doing more advanced defensive courses at a later date.

Either way, you're doing this at little-to-no cost, nearly statewide, and from all accounts still do a fantastic job. Keep it up!
