A commenter cited this, "Indiana Code 3-5-4-4 Immunity from arrest while at or going to and from polls Sec. 4" but I have not been able to find an Illinois statute establishing the right to vote or its parameters.

If you are referring to Indiana, rather than Illinois, the Indiana State Constiution, Article 2, Section 2(a) states:

"A citizen of the United States who is at least eighteen (18) years of age and who has been a resident of a precinct thirty (30) days immediately preceding an election may vote in that precinct at the election."

and Article 2, Section 12:

"In all cases, except treason, felony, and breach of the peace, electors shall be free from arrest, in going to elections, during their attendance there, and in returning from the same."

the article has been pulled again. i wonder if it was because they ran the story yesterday stating that he agreed to be on camera only if they didn't show his face or reveal his name, and then this morning they updated the accompanying article and splashed his name throughout it a dozen times... so much for journalistic integrity.

As soon as he sues someone because of this his name will be public information anyway. (Ask me how I know...)

Hint- the sticky at the top of this forum.

true, but by then some of the hoopla will have died down and most people will have forgotten.

The taxpayers will remember real fast when they have to pay for the settlement or judgment.

I can see it coming back to the people charged with voter intimidation real fast also when they have to defend their position and giving false information.

Apparently you are forced to create a facebook account to see it, though.

This from Clay's lawyer on INGO:

"Today, the Law Offices of Guy A. Relford filed a Verified Petition Requesting the Appointment of a Special Prosecutor to conduct an independent investigation as to whether various criminal election laws were violated when St. Joseph County officials refused to allow Clay to vote.

More news to follow.

Guy"

Of course. Facebook is a great tool for helping to educate the masses and get our word out to as many diverse people as possible in a short amount of time. We can coordinate a state and country wide network of support in just a few hours.

Much more can be accomplished when you have several motivated individuals working together than only a few passionate people desperately trying to keep their heads above water.

Live topic of discussion on GRRN

Guy A. Relford Indianapolis Indiana firearms attorney will be joining Doc Wesson and Mark Vanderberg on the May 16, 2012 episode of Bar Stool Discussion live on the Gun Rights Radio Network. Show starts at 9 PM Eastern time and you can listen live and join in on the chat room by going to http://gunrightsradio.com/live

Open carry into Indiana polling places will be the topic of discussion for the 1st hour of the show and I would like to invite all of you to join us and call-in to ask questions of our guest.

Also need some assistance from anyone that can remember. Several election cycles ago I also remember a law enforcement officer in uniform being turned away for the same thing. Does anyone remember the name of the officer and what the outcome was? Links to the story would be helpful.

I searched on "armed policeman polls election" and am still reading the results, but they are vastly from other countries than the US.

Perhaps since he is considered BY LAW a marine even after he is discharged he can claim he is always on duty and exempt from all firearms carry restrictions.

What??? Care to explain why you think he needs an exemption from a legal carry restriction as it pertains to this topic?

wrong. can you cite such a law? even on active duty a marine who is not strictly in the performance of his duty is subject to state firearms laws. and unless specifically authorized, most marines can't carry a firearm in uniform, personal or government owned.
