OC'D yesterday - No Encounters

I OC'd yesterday several places with no encounters. I started off at Bass Pro in Pearl to pick up a box of ammo. I got several looks but nothing was said by anybody. After Bass Pro I went over to Ruby Tuesdays to grab a bite to eat. I dont even think anybody even noticed. Then I went to Walmart inJackson off of Hwy 18to grab a few things before heading home. Everything went smooth in Walmart and I even saw 2 other people OC'ing but I did not get a chance to talk to them. On the way home I stopped by the Texaco, Conoco, and the Dollar General in Terry for a few items I forgot at Walmart. Everything went without a problem at these 3 places also. Overall it was a great experience and I hope it stays that way.

I will be moving to MS from VA next year. Based on the posts in this forum I've formulated the following hypothesis, which I wanted to get feedback on:

"Since the MS AG has deemed that holsters constitute partial concealment, OCing a holstered weaponis legal in Mississippi if and only if the person has a CCW permit."

True? False?

So in good ol' Miss, you need the privilege of a CCW to exercise the right to "bear arms". I think a fellow with lots of time and money could probably fight that to the state's supreme court and win. In the meantime, one has to be inventive in order to get around the silly law while also poking fun at such bizarreness.

I'm looking at my Serpa right now, and it seems to me I could take a hacksaw and dremel tool to it, and carve away almost all the side and front of it, leaving only the retention mechanism and the smooth, raised band that goes around the muzzle. I think it would still work perfectly well. Only a complete nitwit (or a socialist) would have the audacity to describe such a device as "concealment".

Eeyore,
I've lived more than half my adult life here, so I don't think I'm going anywhaere soon. (If the leftists in NOVA metastasize all the way through the state and turn it into Maryland Lite, I'd leave.)

P.S. Mark, I'm not going to hassle with any of your benighted politicians. We have enough trouble here dealing with Gov. Kaine (D) and Richard "Banjo" Saslaw (D).:X
