Someone remind me again how this thread has anything to do with open carry in Virginia?

Simple. It goes to show the situational awareness each and every one of us must employ when open carrying in Virginia. One can never know who might present a threat or where. Forums are a great place to discuss and work out appropriate means and methods of dealing with real life scenarios. Some of those scenarios might involve dealing with rogue police officers.

How might this situation unfolded had that police officer, in plain clothes and in an unmarked car, in a full blown, gun waving road rage, turned out if both of the victims had drawn their defensive open carried weapons and removed the threat they faced?

I'm surprised I'd have to explain that to a defensive carry instructor.

We could prevent this type of worry for the police if we would just take away the guns from the police, and pass some more laws to make it illegal to shoot them.

Exactly, which is why I originally posted the arrest of the Priority customer. I wonder if any of you read the complaint. The arrest portion of the complaint runs from paragraphs 45 through 61. The police arrived believing the guy, Danny Sawyer, had committed a felony. How many folks here answer the door OCing? What if he had been carrying and opened the door? What if he had become a crime victim on the way back home?

Why, he might have ended up dead. Good thing he wasn't Open Carrying, huh?
