I'm new to this forum, DUH! Read a little on it here and there, but decided to register and join the fun.

Was not award that OC was legal until I was having a conversation with Idaho Corsair and the subject came up. That encouraged me to go home and read the laws. I did so. Now I OC almost all the time. A few times/places that I don't; Church, Certain buisness's, Work, and some places where blending in is more beneficial to my plans.

Two weeks ago I was out to dinner with my Future HH6 and mom. Was OC'ing. We went to the mexican restaurant next to TVCC's Caldwell Ext. When we walked in, the kind of looked at us weird but I was polite as usuall, and even used some of my limited Spanish when asking for stuff. We were being watched the whole time. When I got up to use the pisser, in my moms words, "watched us to see what we would do."

Later when we were getting ready to leave, 4 mexican males walked in and sat down at a table located between the door and our table. I observed that they were all around the early 20's. Not dressed very clean. They eyeballed me. I gave them the "eye pat down" for tools. None were obesrved. (Yes tools like Guns, Knives, Flashlights, etc.) They watched our table continually. When we got up to leave, I was watching them the whole time. As we walked toward the door, and subsequently closer to them, I watched as their eyes focused on my hip. I stared back into their eyes to let them know I was watching them and kept on moving. When I passed them I couldn't help but smile as I knew they were scared out of their minds. Oh well. They didn't look like they were on the completly legal immagrant side of the Hispanic population.

With that said, I am looking forward to learning and providing input wherever I feel that it would be valuable.

Welcome aboard!

Scaring people should never be the intention of carrying a gun. Protection and education of civil rights are why I carry. It is very easy to get into the Billy Badass/Marshal Dillon mindset, but we are neither and have to do our best to be as polite and friendly as possible because people will be watching us.

I'm sure you were very well behaved, but if we think we are scaring people, especially four grown men, we are probably doing something wrong.

Hope you take this as intended, not a criticism but wisdom learned from many mistakes.

I guess I didn't explain it properly. I wasn't trying to scare these guys. They were scared as a result. I OC for the same reason I have a Confederate Flag on my backpack. To educate. Sorry about the confusion.

Welcome gents! OCDO is a great place with even better people who have some really cool toys! Make yourself at home, get involved, ask questions and enjoy yourself, but please be respectful, that's all we ask.

I do not but I am a good friend of him and his brother. They are the ones that got me started guns and OCing. :D

They keep telling me that I need to come to their church sometime though so one of these days I'll make it a point to stop by.

Two sundays from now, a shooting event has been roughly planned after church. PM me if you have more questions.

The more and more I read about Idaho, the more I am attracted to it. I grew up in Michigan but have spent the last 3.5 years stationed in the UK with the U.S. military.

The UK is a disarmed society;most firearms are banned and knives/swords/bats are heavily regulated as well. Yes, the criminals still have and use all the above here.

I know a local English farmerwho's hada fewbrand new farm tractors stolen and buildings emptied in the course of several robberies, just two last week;his financiallosses are staggering. He calls the police every single time, often when the incidentsare in progress, with a full day's delay or no response at all.

To take direct action against the thieves in a situation such as thiscouldeasily landa personin prison in the UK, especially if the perp complains. One day he got so fed up during one theft in progress that he pulled out his side-by-side and blasted abirdshot round into some brush to scare thethievesoff. The police showed up in minutes, his guns were taken, and he'll never be able to own one again. They did not investigate the thefts or attempt to locate the perps in the local area.

Please understand the fragile nature of freedom and the point in history where we find ourselves. Rights not exercised, defended, and publicly promoted WILL go away, and the pendulum WILL swing to the opposite extreme. The United States, even with our problems, is one if not the only bastien of true freedom left. Formerly free societies are dying off around the world each and every day.

For our future, I beg each of you to be dilligent, unashamed, and passionate in the exercise and defense of your God-given rights. Promote them to others. Invite people out to shoot with you and pay for the ammo, the gas, and maybe even lunch. Sponsor memberships in gun clubsand advocacy organizations. Whatever you can do and afford, DO IT.Be articulate, calm, positive, yet firm andengaging when talking to people about their rights andrelated issues.

I live in the gun-banned world so many of you fear. I know what it is like and have seen the gun-grabbing firsthand. This experience has changed me forever and while I ache as my firearms sit at my parent's home in a safe,I will forever be grateful for the lessonsI have learned.

I'm looking for a place to go when i get out in '09, and if you Idahoans don't mind too much, I may just set-up camp out your way.

Thank you for the comments and the welcoming spirit!

Thrice welcome also from me, Sir!

Sad how your farmer friend got busted for defending his property in a robust manner! How times change!

It reminds me of the time that my recently deceased dad, another TrueBrit, emptied HIS side by side, loaded with snipe shot (English No. 9s), into the butts of a racehorse AND work rider from a neighbouring training establishment. They had sneaked up onto OUR gallops, without permission, during a wet spell, and were cuttingour ground up rather than their ownground. The horse broke the land-speed record,as the lad with a sore ass was unable to sit down in order to anchor him, and an ugly shipwreck ensued!:DThe cops were called ,laughed until they peed themselves, and gently admonished my unrepentant father, who smirked at them, all the while cradling his Westley Richards under his right arm! This was in 1969, of course!

I came over to Kentucky in 1996, and have not regetted the move. It is sad how my Motherland has degenerated into a police state. We must not allow the same thing to happen here!Come back soon!We need guys of your undoubted calibre!;)

Best wishes,

TrueBrit.

Also, a warm welcome to our new comrade Bourneshooter!

Sorry to hijack this post. I'll move it along if people prefer.

Excellent story TruBrit. Some of the friends, gun lovers at that,I've made have already immigrated to the States but only on 5 year work visas. They'd love to make it permanent. How'd you get out there so long term?

I'm sitting in my landlord's training kennel office, surrounded by rolling farm fields and barking GSD's (among some labs, ridgebacks, and spaniels). Since I was a child, my dream was to come to England and I've been here for 3.5 years.

The people I live with (I'm a lodger) are the best...originally from southeast London with common sense and conservative values, and I have so many good, decent British friends from all over the kingdom whose values are so at odds with the government and media. It is difficult to comprehend how this is the case.

Well, my friend, perhaps things will change, regardlessthe UK will always have a special place in my heart. I love a good cuppa - make a mean one after some in-depth training, and you can't beat the countryside.

By the way, somehow I could sense your Britishness through your post. I'm coming back home in December, then my little bro will be staying with us for next summer. Then I'm back in the States as a civi, and may head to Idaho/West or Alaska!

Welcome Bourneshooter! Nice to see you on here. I should be back on the 4th, so am I invited to the church shoot? :D I forgot to take those paper clips you told me about... haven't needed them as of yet. We, anyhow, welcome and see you soon.

Martailcanine.45, thanks too, for the post about the Brits... I'm in Belize right now (formerly British Honduras).. and the lack of guns down here is simply amazing. Heck the cops hardly ever carry guns down here... just the British influence is producing similar results. Of course the bad guys somehow always manage to find them.

If you guys want to, you can attend the church shoot as well. PM me for details.

IdahoCorsair; pictures of gun less cops are expected/demanded/required. Must show how stupid people are.
