Newsmax is teasing an interview with Ollie on the big one - ERPO.

NRA has been so wimpy for so long, my jaw just about hit the floor. 🤪 Are those old boys fixin' to grow a muscle?

It's a hopeful thought. A strong NRA could do some real good. Unfortunately nothing solid yet until said interview; all I have is this from a subscriber email:

Breaking News from Newsmax.com

NRA President Oliver North takes on red flag laws and the threat they pose to gun owners. Watch Newsmax TV with John Bachman tonight at 6PM & 9PM ET via Directv 349, Xfinity 1115, Dish 216, Uverse 1220, Fios 615, Spectrum

If you are going to play semantics: I didn’t say that you asked me. I said you asked.

Your turn. I won’t take another one.

Ollie of Iran Contra has repented...nawlll
Per wiki...
The rest of those indicted or convicted were all pardoned in the final days of the presidency of George H. W. Bush, who had been Vice President at the time of the affair.

Ha ha, yep, never "misunderestimate" the Bushies and the Ollie!

Well, here's a mention of the same topic from October:

So evidently the NRA is fighting this thing literally tooth and nail - pretty quiet though - maybe we'll hear a peep out of them soon. :D

One of those "flyers" requesting money came in the mail the other day. According to it, the likes of Bloomberg and Soros are bring pressure on banks and other financial institutions to deny the NRA access to funds to run. This was similar to what they tried on gun manufacturer's several years ago. The NRA is claiming they won't be able to write payroll checks, accept checks from members and donors, etc. I don't know if this is true but it sounds like the kind of "dirty pool" Bloomnut and Sourpuss would try.

The NRA will not be able to take donations?

Then why send a flyer to ask for money they can't accept?

Has Hell frozen over?
Nope still hot.

If the NRA flopped and folded then folks who feel the need to belong to pro gun groups would go to GOA, 2A foundation, etc. And some real pro gun muscle would be applied.

According to their information, it is what Bloomie and Soros are TRYING to get the banks to do. It hasn't happened yet.

NRA has been so wimpy for so long, my jaw just about hit the floor. 🤪 Are those old boys fixin' to grow a muscle?

They would have had 25 million members instead of 5 million if they just did three things:

1. Put a halt to the scare tactic recruiting and strong-arm retention. It gets old. Fast.

2. Take our Second Amendment to heart, as it is written, and fight for that.

3. Lower the price of membership to $12 a year and streamline their organization i.e. cut the waste while leveraging new technologies.

They'd also be a lot more effective if they had 25 million members instead of just 5 million.

Red Flag laws is a tyrant law.....i support whoever groups that fight against it.
Remember everything start out as a good intentions for the better of public safety, then BAMMMMM everyone from your great grandmother to your new born is in violation of the law and stripped of your 2A right.

I don't mind the scare tactic recruiting (#1) until it fails to really pan out (#2).

I remember responding to their email about an urgent 2A situation. I was a few months lapsed (it was tight year moneywise) so I renewed immediately. I could have done a pure donation without membership, but thought keeping up their membership numbers was important too. I carefully chose all the membership options that would save their money. Next thing you know, things start coming in the mail - a range bag, a knife or other logo item, more mail.

So now by my estimate, the membership fee money was just about gone on postage and bling. I was in that tight time period moneywise and couldn't add a donation on top, so I assume none of my net money went to the 2A battle. That's a bummer. And they started the process that got bump stocks banned. Not exactly the kind of advocacy I was hoping for.

One year they sent a cool challenge coin or keychain thingie that I really liked - can't find it right now - but some Second Amendment victories would have been even cooler. I can easily buy my own keychain or range bag. I can't easily take cases to the Supreme Court, influence the mainstream news cycle, or lobby in Washington. That's where an org really helps.

I understand that the goodies are also incentives and rewards, sometimes useful items and indicators of membership, and for a regular org or a gun org in a world with no serious gun control effort, that would make sense. But in our world with a constant battle for our rights, for survival, it makes no sense at all. They need to clearly remind themselves every morning that they are on the side supporting 2A, plus add a membership option that retains as much of the money as possible for important agenda.

Please remember there are two NRAs
NRA-ILA, the lobbying segment...

NRA, the exemplary side composed of LE, citizens training and other non-lobbying activities.

To lump/link their activities is similar to the sliimy nonsense which surrounded the American Red Cross during the 60s about folks overseas SELLING the commodities volunteered to those servicemen serving overseas. Did it occur, based on slimy people i am sure in isolated instances it did occur. Just like i wonder if NRA-ILA is being effectively operated and as efficient as it could be but to lump their activities together while casting dispersions on the whole is extremely disingenuous.

I also have no insight in dispersing of membership dues between the entities.

The NRA, will support Red Flag laws. Especially a federal one. Regardless what they say now. Just like they pushed fix NICs .

Unless we as gun owners raise hell constantly with our reps we WILL get saddled with a federal one and Trump will sign it.

May get one regardless what we do.
Then some of you moderate we can fix the law later gun owners may well get to make the choice to stand on your birth right to be armed , or cow down and bow when LE shows up at your door demanding your weapons when you have done nothing wrong .
