New Law Conflicts.

I've lost all faith in the legislative process tonight.

So, I was just perusing through the laws that they enacted last session and I noticed this little gem And how it interacts with the law that we supported. Basically, they made our Concealed Firearm Permit into a Concealed Handgun Permit. Concealing long guns is no longer allowed in Maine. This created Conflicts throughout all of our firearms laws. Title 17-A SS1057 says that it now both is and is not a defense of prosecution to carry in a bar posted to prohibit firearms if you have a permit. Title 25 SS 2001A Now says you can carry a concealed long gun and you cannot carry a concealed long gun. They changed the vehicle law to only apply to handguns as well. This means that a rifle in a case on your back seat is a concealed firearm under Maine State Law. Federal law allowing the transportation of firearms across state lines does not apply to a Maine resident who engages in commerce in the state.

Our permits were gutted last legislative session and it wasn't even publicized. The State website says (CONFLICT) on nearly every line of our firearms laws. What happens next? How do we get this fixed? Someone needs to fix this ASAP. I'm writing emails to my delegates now.
