New ammo worth consideration for SD carry?

If I see a snake, most times I leave it alone. If it is close enough to strike a person would most likely not get a shot off, they are faster than the blink of an eye. If I have to I can take a aimed shot at a snake with a conventional bullet and hit it, but I usually leave them alone. IMO the round shown would be almost useless on a farm. I would rather have a magnum air rifle for putting down rabid animals than put one ounce of trust in that snake oil combination.

As far as the coated bullets, hell we loaders have been coating bullets for years. From powder coat to HiTek to VHT, I personally like VHT the best but the color is limited to black. While powder coat is not as slick it still performs better than lube, or jacketed bullets when the velocity is below rifle speed.

WW - snakes don't bother me either BUT I draw the line at an article I read last night about a homeowner in TX that had a REAL "snake problem". They had to get a specialist and he and his partner pulled out 45 rattlers from the crawl space!

As for the ammos in the article, I like the idea of the fragmenting HP but I'm concerned about its ability to penetrate. I can't see those "disk & shot" SD loads being good for anything, not even snakes. And how are those Golden Sabers "bonded"?

Not sure how they bond jackets to lead, not sure it is even necessary. Most of my carry ammo is hand loaded coated wheel weight cast, I usually use wadcutters, semi wadcutters, and flat points. Semi auto I usually use target hollow points, they do not expand but still cut like a flat point. Coating bullets can add anywhere from 25 to 100 fps using the same powder charge. VHT epoxy seems to yield the best gain, plus the bores are shiny almost as if they had just been cleaned. I will never go back to lube, and prefer the cast to hollow points.

Since Hornady refused to sell ammo to NY agencies , I've used their ammo almost exclusively for SD, and hunting .Except for target ammo. And a few rds of PDX1 +P and old hydra shok I already had .
They don't make FMJ target ammo or I'd use it too.

All ammo manufactures should have followed their lead.
