Sheriff Lowell Griffin said a homeowner had noticed someone breaking into a car around 3 a.m. Thursday.

Griffin said the homeowner yelled at the man, who then shattered a window at the home with a crowbar. Griffin said the man and the homeowner exchanged gunfire after the suspect took a gun from the vehicle and before deputies arrived.

Griffin said the suspect appeared to comply with commands to show deputies his hands before firing once and shooting [Deputy] Hendrix in the face Henderson County Deputy Ryan Hendrix died Thursday afternoon.

The sheriff said two other deputies returned fire and that the suspect, identified as Robert Ray Doss Jr, died at the scene.

1. perhaps homeowner's SA was lacking as someone saw them or he bragged about leave their firearm in his vehicle.

2. perhaps the homeowner should left well enough alone after notifying the Sheriff instead of approaching an individual armed with a crowbar...

3. perhaps, just perhaps, two individuals would not have been murdered in his drive way!

[sidebar...the homeowner still lost his firearm, as it is now forever stored in the SO's evidence room since it is tied to two murders!]

1. Whose car...the home owners?
2. Crappy shooting from the homeowner at the thug...00 buck shot works better for home defense...
3. Own more than one gun.
4. More info is needed.

Well sir, that there what i posted was the whole story at the time, but the UK’s Sun posted the same death notice but w/o the commentary bout the crowbar or the homeowner and BGuy shoot’n it out and a bit of a different version with bguy found sitting in his vehicle when johhny-law drove up!

truth be told...not sure what the real story is now - in the world’s “new normal”
