1. WT’s the local, we are really proud of our merchandise, & didn’t t allow OC’g, gun store closed! [wait i’m suppose to appear sadden ~ nawll won’t happen from this member!]
2. Out of the blue ran into the owner of Four Seasons ~ a real local good olde boy community run gun shop which provides/sponsors support to the community’s youth groups and chatted on status of firearm things for a good 10 min all the while OC’g.
3. Walked into Durham’s sporting goods box OC’g store and walked back to firearm display, lad walked up stating how can i help and he uttered my first & last name while struggled to recognize him...oh ya you’re so and so...! Chatted for bout 30 minutes catching up...the newly arrived service member and i chatted about the virtues of OC’g in the Tarheel state!
4. Then off to a chaotic Popeye’s and endured the mgr screaming at staff for slowness, no replacement product being prepared, etc..waited in line to order, waited for order to be ready, and sat and ate...while OC’g.

All in all another great day OC’g in rural religious Eastern NC!
And no one commented on your choice of dress?

Coming home from the mountains, I stopped at the Mocksville Taco Bell. Both the manager and the fellow handing me my order looked at the 1911 and smiled when the girl at the register said "Wow, that is a pretty gun!" The cocobolo grips do look good.

No other comments or stink-eye all weekend, including at the various rest areas full of tourists.

Another day in paradise in rural religious Eastern NC...

off to local sam’s club to visit their pharmacy & stood around OC’g for 45 minutes or so all the while chatting to staff, customers, & seen by those walking through the store...all without a double take...

off to Arby’s for dining in lunch chatting with staff and observed OC’g throughout my visit...

darn the feral cat family who moved in months ago doesn’t like sam’s club dry food so off to WalMart to get the ‘precious’ family of cats appropriate food for the next week...oh did i mention i OC’d throughout the store?

as the member from VA recently stated...where’s the beef?

ya last night visited popeye’s OC’g during their busy period as it took 15 minutes to get my take out...chatted with the gregarious manager chatting and laughing about life in general...place was packed with dining in citizens...nobody batted an eye...

ran to the dentist not a word said by patients nor dental staff about my sidearm...then after the teeth cleaning...lunch at subway...greeting by owner and another employee asking how I was and where have i been...the shocked 'olde' ladies seated by calmed down then and went back to their gabbing and eating as they saw there was no threat by my firearm on my hip.

walked into lowes and after touring the store looking for that particular widget i needed saw a gentleman engrossed with power tools...walked by stating...'nice' gun...ya thanks...didn't even notice i was armed as well...so much for his situational awareness...geez!

cashier thanked me for OC'g...

Alas returning home this past Saturday up N 95 where the average speed was 'a bit' above posted speed w/frequent stops due to congestion caused by stupid drivers... 25 miles from turn off of 95 towards home, cruising peacefully, bumper to bumper, near the 'speed' limit when i saw the vehicles about a mile up the road start to brake...so i backed off from the bumper ahead of me and I started slowing and increasing my distance with, as is my custom, 4 ways on to let everyone behind me know we are not slowing but appear to be stopping!

stopped with sufficient room from the bumper ahead...

unfortunately the lass behind me failed to stop at +/- 45-50 mph and slammed into my olde pick-me-up up to the middle of her hood.

Darn...got out, found driver unresponsive & unconscious but w/pulse and passenger flat out hysterically screaming...finished checking out driver for obvious head injuries etc., all the while trying to get her back to consciousness...whew...two passerbys stopped and announced they were retired EMTs...yahoooooo, relieved by announced competent people!

started directing traffic to get rid of the lookie idiots in yellow reflective jacket so emergency vehicles could get in...three fire trucks, one EMT supervisor, 3 NC Troopers in separate vehicles, ambulance, and oh ya the state farm emergency vehicle all trying to arrive at the same time.

while trying to clear the way for the ambulance ~ trying to get traffic out of the inside lane, a fireman hollered that was the state farm's job, so quit...[BTW SF guy is still sitting in their vehicle] getting traffic juggled ambulance rolls in the fireman hollered to get in my vehicle and leave now or he was going to have me arrested... told him no couldn't do that...his nostrils flared walked over and was about to have a significant discussion ~ WHY he hollared at the top of his lungs...and i said cuz my vehicle was involved but let's discuss his attitude with one of the nice state troopers...right now!

then I took off my nice jacket off and everyone saw i was open carrying...troopers told, as required by law i and my bride and the vehicle all had small arms on us and in the truck ~ no problem from the troopers! one did ask why i was so 'heavily' armed...provided explanation..."OH" was his response!

you know the 10 firemen standing around doing nothing even got quiet!

ye olde pick me up is totaled ~ frame is crumpled equally on both sides...sigh! but drivable!

ps: 45 minutes after emergency responce arrived on scene, did the EMT supervisor come up to ask if either my bride or myself required assistance ~ the supervisor and I have a private conversation regarding the responce protocols regarding assuring ALL victims at a scene are evaluated w/results documented ~ formal complaint about the fireman's attitude & EMT lack of care going to community leaders!

Glad to hear you and yours are okay. Sorry about the truck.

Spent the morning in the downtown banking area of the Queen City. BoA, Wells Fargo, US Bank, and 1st Citizens, OCing the 1911. Several security guards (all unarmed) noted the gun, and had no untoward comments. The patrolman I talked to on the street didn't give it a second glance during our brief conversation. The patrolman and the guard at the parking garage were the only ones I saw that were OCing. Lunch at Boston Market in Mathews, where no one commented/stared/ran out screaming. Uneventful day, and I am happy I don't have to go back to Charlotte any time soon.

well off to sam's got some gas at 1.69/gal and went in to a half empty store where the snack bar is closed, TP & paper towels were being picked up - one per customer.

as i walked in a gentleman approached i'd himself as 'one of the assistant managers' and flatly stated Open Carried firearms were not allowed into the store..."really, as of when?" uh always..."not sure you have corp's policy quite down pat sir" well they ask you not to bring them in..."that you have done! and turned and walked down the main aisle. no police arrived, no screaming from other customers, nada...my favorite young lady from the middle east just shrugged her head when i told her the story and stated management has been functioning oddly of late...

That tall, short, fat, skinny guy, the one with his mouth full of teeth and his head between his ears?

tuesday..
several dump runs of non-salvageable trash [shhhhh please don't tell my darling wife where her irreplaceable collectables are!!!]

well broke my virus pledge...went to rosewood wally world for vit which sam didn't have in stock...
no mask, waited in line for maybe 5 minutes, went inside and got what i was looking for [of course at the other side of the building] all the while people watching...one lady wearing mask below her nose, majority patrons didn't have facial covering, those that were wearing covering it was home made, or dust masks or incorrectly worn...
funnest was woman driving in her suv, smoking with her mask down my throat...

nobody gave a second look at my trusty sidearm...
