Sir I dont need a description. Their website has a photo section with the "Kilt Girls", I pulled it up while I was at work (probably not a smart idea) and some co-workers also agreed that it is a place we indeed need to check out sometime.

bahahaha. yeah, be careful with that and enjoy! If I pulled it up at work I'm sure it wouldn't go well at all.

I hate you both for making me look that up. New place to check out next time I'm on the way back from Frugal McDoogals! :::makes note::::

Also, James, we need to plan a lunch soon! Though that may be a bit far haha!

HAHAHA! Yea.. that would be a bit far. Summer is right around the corner, I will begin planning the meets again for the Concord area soon. Hopefully more people will be able to attend with kids being off school. I also started a FB page and people are showing interest in meeting up there too.

EXPERIENCE::::
I recently moved to a different house in Salisbury, and went over to a small nearby convenience store. I walked in and the person immediately noticed the Glock. He asked what I was carrying and I said it was a Glock 23, (the best handgun in the world hands down, no doubt about it. Everyone should own one). I then asked him, "What do you carry?" He lifted up his shirt slightly and he had a holstered 6" revolver. I asked if it was a 357 and he said it was a judge. I then informed him that I recently moved to the area and asked if there was any crime in the area. He said "no, but anything can happen anywhere". I agreed and said "anywhere anytime". (I was just asking a general question, he thought I was asking because he was carrying.) He then gave me the numbers I played and I said "thanks, have a good night." he responded, "Welcome to the area my friend".

Still nothing exciting to report, went to the Food Lions in Havelock and New Bern, Moores BBQ and Chic-Fil-A never have a problem with an armed LAC.

Did go to Perla's Alterations to get my blue uniform pants let out (getting fat in my old age) and had to leave it on my belt with the pants I took off in the changing room, but wasn't worried since she did the measurements right by the door.

Went to Jeff's Burgers and shakes after my son's lacrosse game at an elementary school in Jacksonville, did not park on school property and really hated leaving the pistol in the truck.:banghead::banghead::banghead:stupid laws

Only excitement was being pulled over by a State Trooper on 17 to New Bern and I don't think he even saw my pistol.

Side Note: if you pay your $83 fine online, how in the hell are there over $100 in court costs?

Dick's Sporting Goods and Best Buy in Morehead City were uneventful as well, OC'ing is every bit as boring as one could hope for.

I think you are supposed to notify the officer immediately when pulled over, although I cannot find a cite.

Court cost may be higher if you chose to actually appear.

Sincerely doubt that you have been bored OCing. Enjoying the quiet acceptance perhaps. I'm guessing that your head is mounted on swivels and you look people in the eye (after checking their hip), probably like sitting against the wall where you can see the door in restaurants, and spend some time educating others. Right? Nah, you're not bored. :)

You won't find the cite; it is only required when you CC. Many people do however, and others "recommend" doing so. I don't tell, and I don't perpetuate the recommendation.

Only thing I found for notification was relating to CC, I figure if I tell him it increases the chance for a bad encounter, I guess if he saw it and assumed I was trying to hide it that could turn bad as well, but one can only control so much.
Also, I meant boring in a good way, not that I'm bored with it.

I understood - just poking you a little :)

As to notifying in VA while not required here, some times I do. Most of the time I don't. Had six different guns (very visible) at a sobriety check point. Local officer took it in stride (didn't need to notify, he saw most them), female trooper freaked out. Was not disarmed, went home shortly, still giggling.

Just to let you know GRAPESHOT, the other guys were right in that if you CC you have to notify. if open you don't. since by logic they should be able to see it

i got pulled last week. for tags expired. since the console part of the seat was covering the sidearm. i went ahead and told him i was carrying, and gave him my CHP. he asked me a few question. mainly where was it. i replied it is on my person. he finely dropped it and thank me for letting him know.
would have been a 220 dollar fine, but when i got it fixed they dropped it

Great experience last night, decided late to get a bite to eat so we drove down to a relatively new restaurant, T's Family Restaurant just north of Spring Lake. Looking for signage, I completely missed their closing time, 9pm, it was probably around 8:45 when we walked through the doors. We were made welcome immediately, so I asked if they served alcohol, and the owner replied beer and wine. I apologized and bid them farewell when the owner spoke up and gave his permission for us to OC in his restaurant, then personally seated us. The staff bent over backward for us even though we arrived close to their closing. Great food, clean nice restaurant, and RKBA supportive, can't give this establishment enough kudos.

First, thanks for the info on the restaurant and review.
Second, 14-269.3(b)(3) does not allow for the owner giving permission for you to OC contrary to the statute. I'm glad there was no eager beaver LEO around to give anyone a hard time.

This is a case of an owner exercising his rights as a property owner, but it may be in contravention to his license. Maybe if we could get enough of these guys to speak up, that crap about needing a permission slip to be acceptable would get out-dated.

§ 14-269.3. Carrying weapons into assemblies and establishments where alcoholic beverages are sold and consumed.
(a) It shall be unlawful for any person to carry any gun, rifle, or pistol into any assembly where a fee has been charged for admission thereto, or into any establishment in which alcoholic beverages are sold and consumed. Any person violating the provisions of this section shall be guilty of a Class 1 misdemeanor.
(b) This section shall not apply to any of the following:
(1) A person exempted from the provisions of G.S. 14-269.
(2) The owner or lessee of the premises or business establishment.
(3) A person participating in the event, if the person is carrying a gun, rifle, or pistol with the permission of the owner, lessee, or person or organization sponsoring the event.
(4) A person registered or hired as a security guard by the owner, lessee, or person or organization sponsoring the event.
(5) A person carrying a handgun if the person has a valid concealed handgun permit issued in accordance with Article 54B of this Chapter, has a concealed handgun permit considered valid under G.S. 14-415.24, or is exempt from obtaining a permit pursuant to G.S. 14-415.25. This subdivision shall not be construed to permit a person to carry a handgun on any premises where the person in legal possession or control of the premises has posted a conspicuous notice prohibiting the carrying of a concealed handgun on the premises in accordance with G.S. 14-415.11(c). (1977, c. 1016, s. 1; 1981, c. 412, s. 4; c. 747, s. 66; 1993, c. 539, s. 165; 1994, Ex. Sess., c. 24, s. 14(c); 2013-369, s. 3.)

event noun

1
something that happens <dinnertime was devoted to talking over the day's events, not to watching television>
Synonyms affair, circumstance, episode, hap, happening, incident, occasion, occurrence, thing
Related Words coincidence, co-occurrence, fluke, freak; landmark, milepost, milestone, page, phenomenon, turning point; adventure, experience, time; happenchance, happenstance; accident, crisis, emergency, juncture; achievement, deed, exploit, feat; news, tidings
2
something that might happen <in the event of rain, graduation ceremonies will be held indoors>
Synonyms case, contingence, contingency, contingent, eventuality, possibility
Related Words probability; accident, chance, hap, hazard, risk
3
a competitive encounter between individuals or groups carried on for amusement, exercise, or in pursuit of a prize <figure skating is usually one of the most popular events in the winter Olympics>
Synonyms bout, competition, contest, event, match, matchup, meet, sweepstakes (also sweep-stake), tournament, tourney
Related Words athletics, sport; battle, conflict, scrimmage, skirmish, struggle, tug-of-war, tussle; championship, national(s); final, nightcap, play-off, semifinal; derby, field day, gymkhana, open, outing; biathlon, decathlon, heptathlon, pentathlon, triathlon; marathon, race, ultramarathon; heat, round, run, set; rally, volley; round-robin, rubber, runoff, sudden death; dead heat, photo finish, seesaw; classic
4
a social gathering <the mayor's evenings are often tied up with one event after another>
Synonyms affair, bash, binge, blast, blowout, do, event, fete (or fête), function, get-together, powwow, reception, shindig
Related Words benefit, fund-raiser; ball, dance, formal, prom; celebration, gala, occasion; bacchanal, bacchanalia, orgy, saturnalia; bake, clambake, cocktail party, hen party, house party, housewarming, icebreaker, kaffeeklatsch, kegger (also keg party), klatch (also klatsch), masquerade, meet and greet, mixer, salon, shower, social, soiree (or soirée), stag, supper, symposium, tea, tea party

From what I gather it would be hard to make a case for prosecution since dinner clearly is a event, and I was clearly given permission. This is not the first time this has come up. In fact a couple of years ago GRNC tried to have that particular line stricken from the statute. The attempt came up AFTER a OC dinner at a restaurant in Hillsborough that serves alcohol. IIRC the dinner was cleared by Hillsborough police and the county prosecutor as legal.

All in all I am not too concerned and in this case I would be willing to step up to the challenge, the law is clear, and the definition is clear. If the NCGA wants it to not mean what it says, then they need to change it.

OC'd today to my polling location which is thankfully at a church that isn't posted. I was the only one there voting when I stopped by and all the poll workers were friendly as anything, with not a word mentioned (while I was there) about my G23 sitting on my hip. Walked in with my GRNC voting postcard and was out the door a few minutes later.
