I think you guys are confusing the Drivers License offices that are staffed by state employees and the License Plate offices that are contracted out.

As for the previous convo about being stopped to see your receipt, what about Best Buy? This aggravates me but their excuse is they are making sure the serial # on the receipt matches the one on the product. They only do it on products that are obviously expensive.

No aggravation here - none - 'cause it is NOT going to happen.

Their inventory control ends at the cash register and the transaction is electronically recorded + video tapped.

Now I have my privately owned, personal property and my personal papers (receipt) and they want to do what??

+1 Last "conversation" I had with the door greeter at BB ended with me telling him that "the cashier already checked that out, ask her".

SECU concealed carry sign????

I noticed that the SECU have signs that say concealed weapons prohibited. I thought at one time it was no weapons allowed. Im not saying I am going to open carry in the bank but is open carry allowed in the SECU now???

if you mean 'at one time' being before dec '11 it was against NC statutes to carry in financial institutions. the NC General Assembly (not GRNC, as they profess) dropped them from the covered entities where firearms can't be carried, OC or CC.

organizationally, SECU went to the mentality of no CC so if you OC nobody, except the LE, Correction Officers customers, will bat an eye!

I have OC'd in the local SECU office all the time and as mentioned, those associated with LE all carrying their sidearms have coughed up a hairball...quite humorous to watch their reaction(s) while the tellers ignore me standing in line.

i carried in the NCsecu for months. nothing was said. then one day one of the sheeple there said that it Scaarred them. and they kicked me out. even though i pointed out that their sign said " no concealed". i also pointed out that if i hid it they would have never known. no amount of logic worked on them

i even call and talk to someone claiming to be a "vice president" again no amount of good logic or facts worked. bunch of stupid people.

i have wanted to hold a protest there about them being UN-American and hypercritics

Time to switch banks...

I did. actually went back to Wells Fargo. so far they haven't said anything to me. i don't ask, if they want me to leave they can tell me

i was already at First Citizens. I keep a few accounts at different banks.

i just don't want to let NCSECU to get away with this. and it would help other carrier

toddled to Greenville and discovered Overton's where i OC'd back to the gun section and chatted with the folks without nobody batting an eye and purchased a brick of 350 rounds of 9m for a reasonable price of .30 a round.

then back to Goldsboro to visit the rosewood Walmart where a young military man came up and we chatted about OC'g in the area and NC in general. hope he joins us out here as he was invited to do.

I open carry every day. Never leave home without it.

Couple of past encounters.

Was traveling to a junkyard in Wilmington from Fayetteville.

Running extremely low on fuel and stopped along 87 at an Exxon.

I can't remember the exact town, just before you get to Hwy 17 though.
Went in to pay for gas and spring a leak. Looked for the sign, nothing. Walked in and was extremely rudely greeted by 3 middle aged black women. One asked me for a permit and the other obnoxiously looked for a no gun sign. ,

Being that it obviously was a problem, I just walked out. Had I below E, I wouldn't have paid for gas at the pump either.

Had a Waffle House encounter just outside of Warsaw in a town called Turkey.

Looked for the sign upon entering and nothing. It was approximately 2am with a sheriffs car in the parking lot. Walked in like normal. Instantly noticed a young teenage kid freak out. I go to the corner and sit next to the officer.

Lady rudely and loudly comes up to me and asks if I have a gun. I said yes and that I didn't see a sign restricting it. Meanwhile, the sheriff, my friend, and I all look for a sign. Nothing. I just invite myself to leave as obviously it has cause a stir with the staff. Sheriff apologizes. We leave as the staff waives us in... No thanks.

Lastly, the store next to the waffle house. Walk in with my friend to get a snack as we just left the WH. Wall in and there is 2 cops. Immediately they notice I am OCing. All of a sudden they both lock onto me. Doesn't phase me as I did nothing wrong. I am dressed as a normal citizen, 27yrs old with a beard.

I noticed as I left they followed me to the door. Never a word was spoken, but I obviously rustled some Jimmies.

As for Fayetteville and Sanford Wal-Mart's, I often get looks but never an issue. Most of my frequent places love that I carry.

welcome to the forum 94 EGCOUPE

the first thought answer would have been "No mam, no i don't, why do you ask". but too if you were with a LEO. then you could have said "Sorry mam, i can't answer that question"

but just to let you know that there is a sign on the outside of the building. near the roof, in the back corner
that says no loitering and in small print, no weapons

Indeed you must say good bye to waffle house... I was going to go the other day with my little brother (even though they have anti policies) but I saw the sign again and changed my mind. I went to steak N shake and enjoyed my meal while OCing. I need to find a local waffle place or something near Salisbury, if any one knows of a good place that has waffles and is OC friendly let me know!

try huddle house...decent food (Philly cheesesteak omelet is excellent) without the laxative effect that WH food has on most.

First time OC'ing

Just moved to the Kernersville area this week. Had to take the kids to get enrolled in school and wanted to poke around town a bit with the family to see what is around us. No I didn't try to carry when we enrolled the kids in school. Stopped at a couple local discount stores just to see what they had. I don't think anyone even noticed that I was OC'ing. Chatted with the lady at the counter when we paid at the last store and had several people behind us in line. Caught the guy behind be scoping out my Px4 Storm but I think he was more curious about what kind of firearm it was.

Having strangers stand too close behind me always makes me a little uneasy but while OCing the hairs on the back of my neck stood up a little more than usual. I guess it should be that way though. Seeing as I just moved from Komiefornia where people look at you funny if they know you own a firearm it just seemed a bit strange that no one really cared that I was OCing in town. All in all it was a pleasant experience.
