I just moved to Lawton a few days ago, and I went into goodwill to see if there were any bargains for my new place. I was actually CCing since I'm new, and want to get a feel of the area. I was carrying in a soft sided "cell phone type case", and one of the employees recognized what it is. He informed me that there is no carry in goodwill. I just said it's my "cell phone" (9mm), and proceeded about my business.

So let me see if I understand your post...

1. You carried into a business entity who has a long standing anti carry policy on their outlets. http://forum.opencarry.org/forums/showthread.php?98546-Response-from-Goodwill-Industires

2. You lied about it, presumably to continue seeking bargins for your residence!

Wow, really? Seems there might be better ways to ingrain yourself into a new community as their newest law abiding citizen & resident then stepping out violating private property owner’s rights, then lying about it is, from this gentleman’s perspective your actions are unconscionable and terribly disappointed.

Please enjoy your new community...

I bet there were a lot of lunch counter owners in Selma that didn't want black folk eating in their establishment either, F***** their wants compared to my right to safety.

Alas Fallschirmjager, those era's are 50 years long past as it is now no longer legal, to a point, for private enterprises to ethnically discriminate, excluding baking a wedding cake...

As for your safety...if that concerned I guess you need to remain sequestered in your abode having wheels on meals bringing your dinners.

You are absolutely correct sol, but those laws DIDN'T get changed because people obeyed the wishes of the lunch counter owners. More to the point, If I'm reading O.S. §1290.22 and O.S. §21.1277 correctly and the same way Handgunlaw.us seems to, carrying a firearm in an establishment posting a "No Firearms" sign isn't a criminal act.

But, thanks for this teachable moment :)

If mem serves the last sentence, something about, even if not posted, and a bit further down there’s a comment citizens might still get arrested cuz the police ‘aren't’ familar with the law.

As the french say...

[h=1]plus ça change, plus c'est la même chose[/h]
cheers

You can get arrested for eating a ham on rye sandwich on Sunday if an officer thinks it's illegal (or can convince a judge that he thought it was). Getting a conviction is another story.
I only care about convictions for actual crimes.

How about getting arrested in Kroger for trespass because you were open carrying, even though Kroger policy allows open carry in their stores. Then go through a 20 month legal farce to eventually be acquitted at a tune of a $50,000. legal bill? I would think you would care about any unjust prosecution.

seems they are...summary judgement for the nice LE's ?
The gummint's gotta protect its own, y'know. A judge found that openly wearing a pistol was "reasonably suspicious" but conveniently cite suspicious of what crime so it was just one of those unformed, inchoate 'hunches', and dismissed the case against Officer Adam Garth Bell and Rodney Dantzler.

I ( and John Monroe) still got paid by the security guard's employer. I wound up getting a nice 80% lower that was made into a rather nice AR, complete with Garth's badge number for its serial number. ... and a lovely opportunity to drag his name through the mud on a semi-regular basis, which is probably the best thing.:dude:

Of course, I mean even forum member CA Charles stated the same thing...dog gone courts got it wrong...

And this compares and relates to your previous comparison to those who endured an era’s ethnic discrimination how?

Extremely disappointed to see your exhibited glee, er humility, at the havoc you wreaked on the security guard’s family and life from your < 55 sec encounter six years ago...walking away truly shaking my head in sincere disbelief at your espoused attitude.

Oh, there's no humility nor shame in all the supposed ""havoc"" I caused the security guard. As they say....

dont-start-nothing-wont-be-nothing.jpg

And apparently you haven't been keeping up, it was much longer than 55 seconds. The unlawful detainment at the park was just under a half hour and the detention as the Sheriff's Detention Center was closer to 13 hours. I can't see any reason why I Shouldn't be pissed considering I had committed no crime.... can you?

how did your ego state it on this very forum in post 66 sooo many years ago, oh ya:

Had security guard Paul Hanna been respectful in the first place, perhaps asking "Is it legal to carry openly" instead of his accusatory opening of "I don't think you can" which implied I was a criminal then perhaps the company he works for wouldn't have had to make an offer to settle.

I'm not terribly fond of implications that my behavior is criminal. Don't make such implications and we'll get along famously. Unquote

Ya, < 55 seconds dealing rudly with the security guard and your ego kick in and the rest is no longer news.

Sigh... the 55 seconds is in reference to how long Officer Adam Garth Bell took to announce without any suspicion of criminality that I was being detained. I can send you the recording if you like.

And yep, HAD Hanna treated me with respect (and not started nuthin'), then there wouldn't have been nuthin'. But he didn't so there was.

Thank you for this teachable moment.

ETA Funny how you edited my post to deliberately misrepresent it.. the full quote is:

The same goes for Officer Adam Garth Bell and the other responding officers, had they treated me with respect by a) not detaining me without cause, b) not either making misrepresentations of the law through ignorance or telling outright lies, c) not attempting to evade answering questions, or d) refusing to answer my questions then we wouldn't be where we are today. Treat me with respect and I'll do the same to you.

Sorry didn’t misconstrue anything, let’s see your gleeful commentary in this thread regarding the security guard,

I ( and John Monroe) still got paid by the security guard's employer. Just quoted your past forum comments regarding the security guard from six years ago not the nice LEs who you lost your court case.

deliberately misconstrue...Nawlll, purposefully staying on topic regarding your perception, real or imaged, to a lack of respect towards you. Ya, you have showed again, you reveled in the havoc you wreaked in this individual’s life and still gleefully publicly continue to exhibit your contempt towards him.

Thanks again for showing your true self, way more than you will ever know, to forum members.

Best...

Lemme see now....
I had to spend 13 hours in detention
I had my car searched and impounded
I had to hire a taxi to recover my car
I had to visit the Gwinnett Police Dept Hq twice to recover my confiscated property
I had to hire an attorney
I had to give depositions
I had to wait weeks for the charges to be nolle prosequied

Tell me please, Solus.. exactly what "havoc" was wreaked upon the Security Guard? Any trouble in his life, he brought on himself.

Hummm, I believe the ‘golden rule’ espoused when dealling with police or wantabe LEs encounters is KYBMS, but your ego perceived you were being diss’d by an individual beneath your social status who was just trying to make ends meet for his family, so you failed to adhere to keep your mouth shut and played to your recorder.

Sorry your fiddle needs tuning and i forgot my kerchief...

So... instead of being an adult, you're going to go off on another sidetrack. Okay.
We can continue when you're willing, but I'm tired of you trying to misdirect things.
