Hey everybody. I've done all the research on Utah's permit and Florida's permit. I need a second permit for the ability to concealed while traveling through the state of Ohio. I drive to Detroit from Denver, taking I70 to Ohio where I take I75 North. Currently; with just my Colorado permit, Ohio will not recognize my ability to conceal.
Utah's permit is easily obtained and cheap. $65, $10 renewals, and all done via Mail. Here's the catch for Utah- the permit for Utah requires a Utah specific course, held be instructors all over the country. For Utah, I will most likely be tacking on another $100+ for the 4 hour quick Utah class.
Florida's permit is easily obtained and Not Cheap. Over $100 for the original Permit; but not ridiculous in price. Each renewal is going to cost a pretty penny as well. Utah renews every 5 years- Florida renews every Seven (7) years; which is a plus for Florida. Florida allows one to carry any concealed weapon- pistol or spray or taser or night stick- whichever is your style. For the Florida permit- I can submit the certificate that I already have. This means No More extra classes- just the extra fee that goes to the state of Florida for the permit.
All and all- because of Florida's requirements to apply- I will be applying for Florida's permit. It's cheaper for me; due to not needing an extra training class. It's more convenient- Being that it is good for 7 years.
Outside of all of that- Utah takes about 2-4 weeks and up to 60 days Max for a permit. Florida takes 30-60 days and up to 90 days Max for a permit.
Can anybody weigh in with opinions, comments, rants, raves? Anybody else here carry a non-resident Utah or Florida permit? I would love to hear more about this and what you guys all think about the situation.
Anything is appreciated.
