I never really saw anyone open carrying, and lately I have been seeing more and more people OCing. So far everytime I go to Wallyworld someone is carrying too. It's pretty nice seeing people feeling more comfortable. Anyone else notice around their area?

I live in the Foothills section of Tucson right near the mall, and I open carry all the time. I have a CCW, but I open carry anyway. It's my right....so I exercise that right to do so. I never have any problems at all.

Lived in Prescott all my life, and the rate of open carry has remained pretty steady. It's not exactly common, but far from rare and never seems to raise eyebrows with locals.

I notice that people always give you the "look", but never tendto say anything. Many just don't care, or are just to afraid to say anything. But when they do, it is not always so positive.

I'm up by Foothills mall in Tucson too. I OC everywhere- except the Mall itself (CC only). I have stopped going to Chipotle's cuz they're posted, but I go right next door to Baskin Robbins and OC, I even OC at Starbucks- it has proven to be a very good ice-breaker/conversation starter. This IS Arizona after all. ;)

Most in AZ sell beer. So before they didn't really need a policy against carry. And I guess now with that new CC only law, they're showing their true anti gun colors. And why not I guess. There are huge numbers of no guns signs in AZ after all.

I've OC'd to Chipotle's in Michigan many times now without incident. Most here don't even sell alcohol because of Michigan's draconian liquor licensing, so anyone with a handgun can OC to them.

Chipotle is posted?! Dang I actually like that food. Oh well guess I'll have to stop eating there (I'm sure my waistline will thank me).

I am down in Sierra Vista and there is this old guy, probably around 80, who always OCs into Fry's with his wife when they go food shopping. It's really nice to see two people who are still married after so many years walking around holding hands and a big Kimber on his hip.

One of these days I'm gonna introduce myself to him.

I no longer care about 'the look'... or the noobs/snowbirds who give it. For awhile it was amusing (to me) but now I ignore 'em unless they say somethin' stupid... 'n even then they'll get 'the look' from me.

The last really bizzarre encounter was whenI was walkin' across a gas station lot to get to a Mickey D's on Cortaro (near I-10) 'n some putz in short pants by the gas pumps starts yellin': "I don't want no trouble, I don't want no trouble"... with his hands in the air, 'bout 30' away.I mean... WTF? He got 'the LOOK'! This is the sort that'll call in a MWAG inna heartbeat. Maybe he did for all I know. What you don't want'a do is have a confrontation... 'cause they'll swear up 'n down you threatened 'em. I figure it was just some tourista dork comin' off the interstate to gas up... but ya never know.

I'm not in the 'education' business. I don't hand out cards (nor wouldI if I had any) or explain squat. No more than I'd explain my hat 'n boots. Sometimes I'll get a "Is that a 9mm?" (Already they dunno squat...) 'n I'll just say 'No, it's a .45 'n keep on goin'. A cocked 'n locked 1911 is kind'a obvious.

I get that one a lot too... Why is it people always assume a 9mm is the only gun that exists? I guess I get the "Is that a real gun?" question more. I always just say "No, its a squirt gun".

OH yeah... I've had that: "Is that supposed to be a gun"... and "Is that a 'real' gun?" said in my direction a few times.

The 'supposed to be' one always throws me for a loop. I once said... "Are you supposed to be an idiot" back... but now I don't say anything. The 'real gun' query is equally moronic unless it's from a kid. I had one ask why I was carrying a rifle. She got 'the look'. (It was my .45) I mean... if they dunno a rifle from a pistol... why bother? This never happened back in the '60's 'n into the '90's. Why now?

Anybody have any ideas? The media... Brady propaganda... more noobs... what?

A month or so ago, a kid at the grocery store asked if my pistol was a .45 and I had to tell him it's a 9mm. It goes both ways I guess.

When I'm wearing my Blackhawk though; I really get a kick out of the people who ask the caliber, then look tempted to tell me there ain't no such thing when I tell them it's a .41 Mag.

Shame someone doesn't make something like the DE to shoot that round I hear it's awfully effective:D.

Have a great gun carryin' Kenpo day

They did make the Desert Eagle to fire that round for a while.

It ought to be real effective round (170 grains at up to about 1600 fps from my 4-5/8" barrel), but I'll keep it to wheelguns. A DE is just a bit more steel than I want to tote around.

mFonz, I OC in fry's in Sierra Vista every week. Although I'm not the 80 year old guy, stop and say hello, I'll have a Wilson in leather.

Nice! I'll have to keep an eye out. Usually I cover up but if I'm out in the open it'll be a Ruger GP100 in a drop-leg.
