Just a "heads up"....

Maplewood Missouri's annual "coffee crawl" is this Saturday, March 28th 2015.

If anyone remembers, two years ago, the Maplewood Patch did an article on several of us that were patronizing area Starbuck's and how we planned to attend their precious "Coffee Crawl".

In response, the City of Maplewood held an emergency session of the city council, and unanimously passed an open carry ordinance in record time.

I was just wondering if anyone besides myself would be attending this year.

You know....since their intentional, specifically targeted ordinance is now toast....I suddenly find myself in the mood for some coffee this Saturday.

I hear there's some good coffee in Maplewood.

Anyone else planning on checking it out?

I already have pretty major plans Saturday, else I might just grab some hot chocolate (I hate coffee). Enjoy!

Makes me "almost" wish I was back in Missouri.

(Almost because where I now live I have 2 mountain ranges within an hours drive, one just 15 min, with mule deer, elk, blackbear, antelope and trout streams just 15 min away)

Things are looking up for OC in the St. Louis area.

I chose to wear my thigh rig as nothing says "LOOK AT ME! I'M F'ING ARMED!" like a HUGE 1911 prominently bolted to your leg.

Walked up and down Manchester, then Sutton trying to find Stone Spiral Coffee and finally located it a few blocks north of Manchester on Sutton. (Not the direction I would have guessed.)

Got there a few minutes after they closed at one, but had a fellow pedestrian approach me and inform me that he goes there all the time, I missed out on some really good coffee, and I should come back sometime.

So I went to Foundation Grounds, and immediately keyed on my body camera upon entrance as it was jam packed with hipster beards, horn rimmed glasses, and patchouli scented, white girl dreadlocks. I figured the "vegan friendly" Google reviews might be an indication that my unmistakably armed patronage would almost certainly be immediately rejected.

However, I was treated pleasantly by all the staff, never received a single pretentious or condescending look from the clientele, and enjoyed a surprisingly good cup of house blend coffee which I promptly ruined by over sweetening.

To top it off, I encountered a plainclothes sheriff's deputy (as evidenced by the badge pendant hanging from his neck) on the walk back to my vehicle and simply exchanged greetings.

Lot's of people out today. None of which even blinked at my state of obvious armament. Exactly the way it should be.

Things are definitely looking up for OC in the St. Louis area.

My experiences may not be the norm, but I have never had any issues while carrying in the St. Louis area. I'm mostly out in West County though, so I can't speak for the city. I do get a few glances occasionally, and there are people that I've seen switch checkout lanes so they don't have to stand next to me, but who cares about the inconvenience for someone like that? I've never been asked to leave a store, even when I carry into an establishment with signage up, and never had the cops called on me. This for about 3 years, in select municipalities that have always allowed open carry and now all of them.

Experiences may vary I suppose.
