Well, they had the hearing. Not as good as I was hoping for, but not as bad as it could have been.

It will take about 1 to 6 months to get an answer as to whether or not I have standing to ask for a declaratory judgment.

Sorry for taking so long to follow up. The SC said I was in the wrong venue, and needed to go through the Pardons and Parole Commission. So my hearing for that is on the 17th of next month. For the last several years, it looks like there is between 75% to 80% approval rate of those that get hearings there, so I've got my fingers crossed.

Thank you for continuing to update us through the years on this. I was able to read the entire thread on this last bump and see the wheels crawl.

Minor note: Use the thread's subject line to be specific with the actual subject we are dealing with. It'll make it a lot easier to remember the thread when we see it pop up. You should be able to change it on an advanced edit.

Well, it was approved by the commission, and the hearing took about 10 minutes from start to finish.

I received the documentation about 4 weeks later.

I sent a copy to the State Police (they run the background checks out here), and let them know I was going to apply for a carry license.

They called a couple of times to update me, and after about 3 1/2 weeks told me that I was good to go.

I applied for a carry license and picked it up this morning.

It looks like I'm good now.

Sorry to respond to an old post .... but note that you best check your state regs on black powder. For example, some states state that 'historic firearms' (non-modernized replica or an original produced before 1898, including black powder guns) are not deemed 'firearms' by the state regulations and therefore are not subject to state firearm statutes. Idaho does NOT have any such verbiage ... old guns and black powder guns in Idaho are considered to be firearms and are subject to all firearm statutes (as of the date this is being posted).

I think this being a gun forum, most if not all know about states having different definitions of weapons. And, if you had paid close attention the black powder comment was in regards to Pennsylvania not Idaho.

I'm THRILLED for you, but at the same time disgusted by what I view as legal chicanery by various parties (especially the AG) in Idaho.

If you live anywhere near Pittsburgh, you can take part in sorely needed OC activism there or elsewhere in PA.

Again, congratulations and best wishes to you.
