Got around a bit today...

Independent Bank in Bridgeport where folks are so used to seeing my sidearm none of the staff even bothers to look anymore.

Taco Bell in Owosso where some folks looked briefly ... and one older lady kept on looking.. yet no one ran out screaming or clutched their children in fear.. actually no one bothered to stop chewing their food for even an instant.

Then to GNC for some supplements and a discussion with a gentleman who learned a few things about OC and left with a print out. And the fellow working the cash register knew about OC but wanted to know about................... brandishing.

And then off to Miejers for some odds and ends where absolutely nothing out of the ordinary happened.

A good day...

wasnt carrying, but was at kroger with my empty holster and mag pouch concealed under my t shirt(hey, im not going to undo my belt to add and remove those things every time i go into a pfz) and that ingham co. deputy that bugged me a few weeks ago was there, gave me the stink eye...not sure why but i can only assume it was because he saw bulges, never said a word though, he bought pizza and i bought a pop and that was it.

did OC at family video in holt and Dairy Dans though. plan to go to the foxhole PX later.

OCed at Meijer, BP, Admiral, Kroger, Lowe's, and generally all around; no issue.
OCed at my bank's branch on the opposite end of town, was told by the clerk that it wasn't really appropriate and that she was concerned for my generation.
OCed at a Shell a bit after midnight, and was asked to put my pistol in the car. The man insisted that I wasn't being asked to leave, but there's no way in Hell I'm walking out past the three or so guys at the door and whoever else is in the parking lot to leave my pistol in a car and walk back past them obviously disarmed. It doesn't take a genius to figure out where the gun is, and I don't fancy the chance of a smash-and-grab or potentially being held up in the store by someone with my own weapon.

Needless to say, I went elsewhere for my late-night soda. It struck me as a little odd, because I've OCed in that store, with the same guy working, with no issue. I had a chat with a manager later, and apparently it's not because of a change in policy. They don't have a customer weapons policy, but that could change if it "becomes a problem."

very positive leo encounter

i oc'ed at family fare in hastings to get some beer and snacks a couple of nights ago. when i went to pay, the cashier said she couldn't sell me alcohol if i had a firearm. i thought she was joking and asked if she was, she then insisted that it was a felony to buy alcohol with a firearm and she was willing to call 911. i told her it wasn't a felony so she trotted of to the front desk and asked another employee to come and, i assume, make sure i didn't leave. the employee who came over was a nice lady who said her son had a cpl and she didn't understand what the problem was. the police arrived about 5 min later and the only thing they asked me was if i had been drinking at all, i said no so he said have a nice night. i walked out with beer and snacks in arm. the thing i don't get is the lady who called the police has checked me out while i've oc'ed buying beer. the whole episode only lasted about 10 mins tops.

OCed this morning at McDonald's, Marathon, and Meijer in Standale, my apartment complex office, and Starbucks and GameStop on 28th St.

Had some questions from a guy at McDonald's who seemed against carry, though he was looking for a target pistol. Also had some questions from a guy a GameStop about acquiring a CPL. No stink eyes or issues anywhere.

OCed today at CVS and Walmart both in Livonia. A woman in Walmart saw me OCing and was surprised to learn I wasnt a LEO, then proceeded to ask me about OC and how to get her "CCW." She had recently taken out a PPO on someone and was eager to learn about where to go for a quality CPL class. She marveled at the fact that she could own a gun without a CPL and carry it openly. Gentlemen, this is one of the main reasons why I OC; had I been CCing that wouldve been a missed opportunity to educate a citizen.

What a nice night it was to watch the Manchester fireworks up close and personal. I wish I could say it went off without a hitch, but, a friend was at the gate when I came in. He tracked me down and told me the gate people were flagging down the Sheriff. Well, I did thank them for the heads up, but assured them that I did not need a licence to carry in the public park.

No one came and I just enjoyed the show.

The have a lit American flag this year that fell apart. oops

Yooperlady and I with my sidearm like ususal went to McCurdy Park in Corunna to wander around at the car show. Many folks looked none much cared. Talked to a guy who has a CPL but was astonished to discover OC without a permit was legal. We left him some info....

Then off to Taco Bell in Owosso for lunch...

No problems anywhere... exactly how it should be in the freedom loving United States of America.

Edited to add........

I forgot to mention that a guy in McCurdy park saw my sidearm and asked if I knew Warchild... and when I said I did the guy just up and walked off. Hey Warchild... what the ... is up with that? In your home town too?

Had a strange encounter at Home Depot. Was assisted by a clerk, who was extremely helpful, as they always are. He commented that he doesn't see many people carrying a pistol on their hip at the store. I told him that is one of the reasons I open carry, so it becomes a more common sight. He helped me get what I needed, and then as I was heading up to the checkout commented that I better be careful that somebody doesn't come up and grab my gun right off my belt. Where do these people come up with these ideas? I should have asked him if he was a gun owner, as I assumed he wasn't, but I admit I was too stunned by his comment at the time to give an adequate response.

OC'ed at the Clawson Parade today with the GF, no issues. While there, spoke to a Clawson Police Officer about her new Duty Weapon (Sig 220 .45 ACP) and to a person running for Judge in Royal Oak (who has my vote). Went to Ace Hardware in Clawson, they were VERY HELPFUL to us. Went to breakfast in Madison Heights and to Home Depot and Lowes to look at Fence/Cage Options as my Corn is nearly Chest High and the Tomatoes are starting to outgrow their cages. At Home Depot, an off-duty Ferndale Officer approached me about my pistol and wondered if it was a M&P Shield, which he liked my M&P 9c instead.

Will be going to the Clawson Fireworks tonight, at Schalm Elementary School. You can watch the fireworks right overhead while laying on a blanket there...

I broke one of my own rules today and OC'd in Ohio. Not much, but a little. Also OC'd in Monroe, and at a rest stop.

Drove home on I75, saw quite a display of fireworks, as well as some motorcyclists not wearing any helmets. It was a good day to reflect on how lucky we are to have the level of freedom we do, screwed up though our nation is.

OCed inside CVS in Detroit and a fireworks tent in Monroe off I-75 and then at my brother's home in Ohio. While in the tent selecting some fireworks the DJ called me out thinking I was a cop. I told them I wasnt, just a law abiding citizen exercising his rights. They had an armed guard there at the register and he was OCing and he asked sarcastically whether I had enough guns followed by how he'd never seen anyone carrying in such a manner. I explained that I was from Detroit and this was the bare minimum requirement. He said he was from Detroit too.

Sounds like his ego was wounded that he wasn't the only armed one there

Went to Menards and Meijer yesterday (I69 and irish rd.) nothing said or anything by anyone. I was hoping that someone would say something to tell them what better way to cellebrate the 4th than to exercise ones consitiutional rights. Was at VGs and the One Stop at M15 and Lippincott the past few days too. Evidently, in these parts around here people don't mind. Thats good.
