Liberty University's Board of Trustees has loosened the school's weapons policy to allow firearms inside all campus facilities except dormitories.

The university previously allowed guns on campus but not inside buildings. The revised policy, which was unanimously approve by the board, went into effect March 22.

From a VCDL Va-Alert:
Hats off to Liberty University (LU) for honoring CHPs from students, faculty, staff and guests. Carry is now allowed in their buildings! Students, faculty, and staff must apply to LU to get permission to carry. Guests can carry without doing so. Open carry is prohibited.

Here is the actual policy:

So students living in campus housing can't carry, because they can't store a gun in their room. I think only grad students would be affected.
(Oh, wait - they can store them with police, then fill out a request form when they want to "check out" their property, including saying why they want to have it & when it will be returned*.)

And if you're "approved for storage" you're not allowed to carry on campus. **

All around, sounds like it's better to take your chances storing it in your car. Much more privacy.

But everyone (other than visitors) would have to beg permission to carry from the campus police, which includes registering your gun with them (make, model, caliber, serial #), then carry their permission slip with you while you're on campus.

*check-out form which details the check-out time of the weapon(s), where the weapon(s) will be used and for what lawful purpose, and when the weapon(s) will be checked-in

** Persons who are approved to store weapons with LUPD shall immediately upon entry upon University property, bring the weapon to the LUPD office in a vehicle. The weapons may not be brought from the vehicle to the LUPD office without an escort provided by LUPD.

It would only take 6-12 people to clog that system by complying. Every. Single. Day.

Awesome. I'm considering attending law school there. If I go there I'll have to work on the "no open carry" bit with them.
