My wife, son, Dad, Mom and I went to the Hearty Platter in Tomah for some supper. I open carried and after about 26 minutes, one of the waitresses asked me if I was a police officer. I said no. She asked why I had a gun, I said protection. She said I need to take it out. I said OK, can I take my plate to my table and then take it out. She said yes. I took it out to the Jeep. After I came back in I talked to the manager, and informed her about the law regarding open carry and gave her a pamphlet. Thanks to who ever made up those Wisconsin Open Carry pamphlets. She said she would call KW corporate for some guidance. As we were leaving the manager told me she had called the police and the police said it is OK for me to be there with a holstered gun. She was waiting for a call from KW corporate for an answer. I want to contact KW myself to find out what the company policy is. Does anyone else open carry in Tomah on a regular basis? I try to make a habit of carrying everyday I can. Every one I talk to says they have never heard of such a thing. And thanks to the guy that said start the audio recorder as soon as the gun goes into the holster. Of course I record a bunch of crap that I don't need to but when the when the waitress came over to talk to me I had my plate in one hand and a pair of tongs in the other. Slowly but surely I will get everyone in Tomah educated. We will be stationed here for long time.

Yeah, I love that pamphlet. It gives them something to start some self education on the subject. Since so many people have access to the internet these days.

Sounds like you are doing a pretty good job in Tomah! I'll have to make a point to OC when I am in town visiting my mom.

Your are Welcome x2.

Ever since I was told that I cannot carry in Tobacco Oulet, which is owned by Kwik Trip, I did not think to turn it on until after. So now, the voice recorder goes on when the gun goes in. I have memorized which buttons are which through the fabric of my shirt, so I can stop and restart it which starts a new file, so I end up with several shorter files that one long one. When I get a respite in the car or a bathroom, IF nothing notable happened, I will delete all files in the folder. It takes a bit more battery to keep it running, but I feel it is worth it. I put mine on a chord and wear it around my neck. They are worthless inside a pants pocket.

For the pamphlet, I have to thank Logan, which improved on what bnhcomputing made, whichhe got from Parabellum and improved. We owe alot to Parabellum. Let us keep his future in our prayers.

Hope to see you at the picnic in Eau Claire this Sunday. For once I can recognize someone from OCDO without asking them what there moniker is.

It is also available at the bottom of the wisconsincarry.org legal citations page: http://www.wisconsincarry.org/legal.html

Thanks for the pamphlet. This is the same pamphlet I got at Gander Mountain in Onalaska. This is what got me started with this whole open carry thing.
A had a great converstion with two salesmen in the gun dept. and the gunsmith. I left them with a pile of pamphlets. Great to actually hear about it doing good for the cause.

One of these pamphlets is what educated me last year about this time. Before that I had a lot of misconceptions. This forum helped to get me prepared and to know the laws regarding OC. I have some in all my vehicles and try to carry them when practical.

Wow! Keep up the great work and the positive image! I agree that when the gun goes in the holster the recorder goes on. Batteries are cheap and can be re-charged, your life is not. When an encounter occurs the last thing one wants to do is fumble with a recorder.

I got my motivation to carry from this site and decided to carry as much as possible after meeting Jesus and Hubert at the open carry picnic last year that Hubert had. Great event!
