I have been enjoying the company of the staff at the central Dock while I have my evening coffee great staff. I went into Dave's Loan and guns today and they told me that their new policy is no one who open carries can handle any guns so I told them they lost a sale and a customer . What kind of horse **** policy is that?

That policy doesn't even begin to make sense! That would be like going to a dealership and being told you couldn't test drive any cars because you drove there.

That makes no sense. They're essentially saying they think open carriers are criminals who would rob them. What the hell?

Want to meet up if you're going to be in town the next few days?

On another thread, SnarlyWino suggested that those of us who have not been active on this site for awhile, post on our local threads about how routine OC is in our area. It is so routine for me here in Kitsap County that I simply have not posted, because it is so uneventful. I open carry all day, everywhere I go, except the post office (obviously). If anyone would like to join me on a walk, anywhere in Kitsap county, let me know. I will buy the coffee!

Sure thing, where do you like to meet and at what time?

I sleep from 4am to noon though and work in the afternoon to early morning so thatd a problematic time frame

But I got me a new gun at cabelas the other day

If you sleep until noon, and work in the afternoon, that doesn't leave too many options. I'm retired, so let me know when you are free, and maybe we can get a fit.

Back up for a visit was walking my dog down by the marina and some guy sitting in a lawn char commented about my OU hat. so I chatted with him for 3 or 4 minutes about the area I live in when he asked what is that on your belt? I told him it was A nine mm compact (the one I got from you Pat.) He completely freaked and started running away like it would bite him. I think he wet himself as he was trying to get out of his chair backwards it was the best comedy I have seen in years. hope someone will show up at the bowling alley this coming sat. would love to see some of you.

Did he have an out-of-state accent? I'm curious where he comes from that a pistol evokes that sort of response.

I plan to be there, unless my boss makes me do Yakima the night before, then all bets are off, but otherwise I should be there

I need to show off my new Smith

Well decided to open carry today as I am off and the record heat in WA state means I don't want to bother with concealment.

strapped on my newish Smith M&P 9c in my left hand SERPA holster.

did some business at my bank in Belfair, no issues!

went to the grocery store in Gig Harbor, turns out OC is still legal there too, then went up to visit the folks, had some dinner and then ran some errands for them in Port Orchard.

no problems to report, possibly because OC is legal and normalized, so if you're feeling shy about OC, just go ahead and do it, it makes no problems.

Yesterday, I went to the Fred Meyer on Sedgewick road in Port Orchard. I haven’t been there for about six months. As I was standing in the check-out lane, the woman in front of me turned and said, “Thank you!” I looked puzzled, so she added, “For carrying a firearm. I wish everyone did.” I agreed with her, of course. She went on to ask me if I had been in the military, to which I replied, “Yes, twenty years.” She shared that her son was getting ready to graduate from Army boot camp, and she was so proud of him. I told her she should be, and to thank him for me for serving his country!

When I got to the checker, he asked me what I was carrying. I told him a Kimber 1911 forty-five. He said, “I love that gun!”

Freedom is a wonderful thing, and it is alive and well on the Kitsap Peninsula! :D

The Kitsap sun (newspaper) has posted this on their facebook page

"On our emergency scanner right now, we're hearing many people calling 911 to report a man walking on Warren Avenue in Bremerton carrying a gun. For those who don't know, there's nothing illegal about that."

They seem to be taking flak from some people for not reporting if the police contacted them, one commenter accused the newspaper of "shaming" the 911 caller(s)

I will go in tommorow and see if I can FOIA the officers reports

I can top that, or at least give you a run for your money. Not Wa, but Wi but too many similarities.

Walking my purebred German Shepherd every night while OC a Sig 226 and double mag carrier on weak side. Came across the snowmobile bridge, about 8 feet wide off leash heel. Family of four on my strong side, I was planning to just walk past. Mom says "that's a beautiful dog!" So I stopped and she sat like she should. Talked about the dog a little she asked me if it was a purebred German Shepherd?

I said yes and she almost slammed herself up against the bridge to get as far away as possible. Said she was deathly afraid of PUREBRED German Shepherds, one ripped her brother's ear off when she was a kid.

So I asked, you were fine and liked her until you found out she was a purebred? Dog is a big baby, given enough time she might lick you to death! The entire time I am standing there with my gun on my side towards the family and not one single mention was made of it. I said if you want to get over that fear, this is the dog to do it with. Not interested, tho Dad and the two kids did pet her and all still have their ears I am happy to report.

Come to find out he is one of my wife's teachers and I had met him before but I can't remember 100 people. I'm still scratching my head at the irrationality of it all.

I've never actually had anyone run from me, this is about as close as I get. And not even for a firearm, I'm pretty depressed.......

I'm not sure who it is but I've been hearing calls on the scanner for that guy. I don't listen to it very much either- my ham radio scans the police freqs on my way home from work (12 minutes) and I turn it on now and then at home, but I've heard four calls in the last two day, and others going back six months or so.

Could this be the same 911 caller? And even after being told it was legal, calls again? Yes, an FOI should be done.

Hello all, it's another late night for me I am currently in the Silverdale Shari's. As you may have guessed it I am one of the only sober ones here at close to 3am. I am currently carrying my M&P Shield 9mm that to my surprise had replaced my XD 40 as my EDC gun. Just wanted to drop a quick line and say hi. So far no problems with my gun
