From the Bremerton Police Blotter if not already posted. And I know some get their panties in a bunch with open rifle carry but this is a good write up.

Gun toting, 11th Street and Warren Avenue: A call to 911 reported a man carrying a rifle around 4 p.m. May 12. A police officer found the man, rifle slung over his back. He was walking two dogs on leashes. The officer deemed his conduct lawful, and did not contact the man.

If only all OC calls ended like this.

Way, way, way off topic - from that link - I found this to be much more interesting:

Background:
http://pugetsoundblogs.com/bremerto...oto-appropriateness-versus-preseving-history/

I've been on the Turner Joy many times. As wierd as it sounds, I sometimes paid admission on to the ship during winter because it was empty and completely silent to study for tests..... Anywho, I've never seen the picture in question....... Or I don't remember if I did. If the museum just took it down and replaced it with another and said nothing about it, nothing would've come of it... They change exhibits all the time, during the 2008 election they had a room on the ship dressed up to resemble john mccains POW cell.... They change stuff routinely

I, too, was a member of the Tonkin Gulf Yacht Club when I wore a younger mans clothes. I read the "comments" and I may not be allowed to post what I submitted. I am in "moderation".

We just signed a contract again with the PI to base our Navy there. That means Subic Bay may open again and with it Olongapo City. Those were the days of real "wild west" days. The mayor of Olongapo was up for re-election and the Subic Commander closed the base. The next day base was open and the new "mayor" got a tour of the base. Seems as the old mayors wife shot him in the head with a pistol and now she was mayor. I saw a pickpocket get shot by a policeman as he tried to escape down a street. Lots of guns on a lot of people back then. I wonder what will be found in the "new" Subic,eh?

Today, I received an email solicitation for a donation to a candidate for state representative from the 26th district. She is a dentist running as a republican. Her name is Michelle Caldier. Some of you may have received the same email. I sent her the following questions, and I will post here answers that I receive.

If you are elected, you will be voting on many tough issues. One of those is gun control. I would like to know where you stand on questions of state preemption (RCW 9.41.290), open carry of firearms, possession of firearms in public places such as parks, etc.

Do you agree with the Washington State Republican Party platform, in particular sections 9 (health care) and 10 (property rights)? http://www.wsrp.org/resources/party-documents

Do you support the Kitsap County Republican Platform, particularly with regard to personal property, health care reform, and public protection? http://www.kitsaprepublicans.com/Platform.html

For those in Kitsap County who are interested, here is the reply that I received from Michelle Caldier, who is running for 26th District State Representative.

When it comes to the gun control issue, I believe most gun owners are very responsible and there are a few mentally ill people who cause horrific crimes with guns. There are many gaps in care for the mentally ill and once elected, I will play an integral role in improving the mental health system in our state.

I believe in preserving personal property rights and reducing the size of our government. I have seen the problems with government controlled healthcare (Medicare & Medicaid) in nursing homes. I am not a Medicare or Medicaid provider in my practice and instead donate care to my nursing home patients on Medicaid because the government system has failed our seniors. Since Obamacare was implemented, I lost my insurance and it was replaced with another plan that cost more than double what my previous plan cost. I am not happy with how things are going and want real solutions, not political ones, to problems in our state. I hope you will join me so we have advocacy in Olympia next year!

Thanks,
Michelle

Her gun control statement seemed weak, so I sent her a reply.

Thank you for your reply.

I am a retired US Navy officer and pilot, and a retired airline pilot. I served our country for 20 years. sworn to support and defend the constitution. I have never been released from that oath, and I therefore adamantly defend all of our Creator given and constitutionally guaranteed rights. Over my 70 years, I have seen a huge erosion of our rights through legislation and court decisions. The First Amendment has always been under attack, the Fourth Amendment has been shredded, and the Fifth Amendment is following suit. The Second Amendment was decimated at one point, but is recovering slowly.

I was hoping for a stronger statement on gun rights, perhaps something along the lines of, "I believe that Washington State Constitution Article 1 section 24 means exactly what it says, 'The right of the individual citizen to bear arms in defense of himself, or the state, shall not be impaired...," and/or, "I support I-591 ( http://sos.wa.gov/_assets/elections/initiatives/FinalText_471.pdf ), and I do NOT support I-594 ( http://sos.wa.gov/_assets/elections/initiatives/FinalText_483.pdf ). Statements like that are unambiguous and to the point.

I understand that as a member of the medical profession, your primary focus is on medical issues. As our representative in the legislature, you will be dealing with many other issues.

Thank you, again, for your reply. I will post it on the Open Carry forum.

I am hoping that a Libertarian will step up and run for this office.

If you're at the Somethingorother Ball Field, the cops are on the way.

Scanner reported it as a "gun violation" open carry. Odd, since "gun violation" has traditionally meant someone was firing a gun someplace they're not supposed to be. Dispatch mentioned the gun was carried openly in a holster.

The Kitsap County Prosecutor election is going to be hot!

The field of candidates could be seen as a critical mass of dissatisfaction with Hauge, over the office in general and over specific decisions ranging from those involving a local gun range to keeping on staff a deputy prosecutor twice arrested for drunken driving. But it could also be seen as the natural result of an office whose job is often to make unpopular decisions.

http://tinyurl.com/ntl6ryv

Of the four candidates, Bruce Danielson has attended several of our Kitsap County OCDO picnics, and he is a stand-up guy. We need to get rid of Hauge, and I strongly endorse Bruce Danielson!
