I never wanted to be a moderator until NOW! Ban hammer time is well past due for several members. I know John is busy with his law practice so I have to live with the idiot children who cannot control themselves.

ETA you should all be ashamed for destroying Grapeshots legacy of making this a family friendly site that not only gave a voice to open carry but was a source of generating new open carriers. We now look like the insane that the CC claim we are. Good work fellas!

Let this thread die, and the petty differences. Refrain yourself from being an idiot, stop posting in this thread. Please nobody respond, just do the right thing.
If someone becomes a moderator and starts actual moderation, then the behaviors that you believe warrant banning would likely end.

I don’t know John’s opinion, but mine is that you would likely make a very good moderator.

I decided you were not the only one who could play the passive aggressive game.

Psychology Today definition:
Passive- aggressive actions can range from the relatively mild, such as making excuses for not getting together, to the very serious, such as sabotaging someone’s well-being and success.

Please WW explain how have i made excuses or sabotaged anyone's [eh no third party name calling ~ eye9's] well-being or success.

Eye95 has successfully upon his return purposely calls out and lambastes the site's owner as well as challenges the site owner's education and so forth, that he calls member's a lair, that he engages in petulant playground name calling, that he consistently posts' gibberish and starts incoherent threads, and the listing goes on.

sorry WW please tell me how on earth i in anyway sabotaged these idiotic exploitation(s) of eye95 on this forum?

Further, did you see any posts where eye95 was called a name or a disparaging word was directed towards eye95 but rather his postings were challenged which he refused to acknowledge nor challenge the substance of my posts.

passive/aggressive...

finally, sorry WW your sensibilities were bruised...but your it appears your reputation is sinking quite quickly.

Eye is not the only one you have provoked, and prodded for sometime. I just grit my teeth and thought you would snap out of it. You find a persons weakness then go to work to get a confrontation. It is why several members have you on ignore, most of us are not on ignore lists. When a person carries a gun or is a gun advocate it is imperative they know how to be polite. Since Grapes passing you have pushed the boundaries. Since eyes return other members are breathing easier, but unless you change I have no doubt when eye is gone you will pick on somebody else, probably me. This difference between Eye95, and myself is you will just end up on a permanent ignore. You know from my treatment of the anti OC poster that was here I never stop ignoring, never. No matter how hard they try, and trust me being ignored is the greatest insult that can be levied.

I truly would like to stay friends but I cannot take your tearing this site apart seemingly to make yourself superior to other members. As far as Eye being banned, and returning that is in the past, just as it was when you quit changed sign in, and returned. NOBODY gave you any grief when you returned, or brought it up constantly. Even the members you fought with.

How we go from here depends on you, when you make this place a miserable place to read you are attacking all members. You are attacking open carry by the example you display. You are desecrating the memory of a great man who served to make this a pleasant site.

A wise man once said:

Let this thread die, and the petty differences.

And then after saying that, he couldn't stop posting to this particular thread. There are hundreds of other threads - is this one so irresistible?

Maybe also we can stop dredging up Grapeshot in this particular context. I enjoyed his moderating, but I think it's probably over - as interesting as it would be to see moderation continue from beyond, it's not likely to happen. Mentioning him repeatedly just to try and shame others serves no honorable purpose either. Don't use the dead as a baseball bat to hit others. There's really no reason to keep up the slapstick personal attacks at the same time as telling others to stop. No one's going to win this one. Let's call a truce. 🤐

Now that we've identified all players, my two cents:

One continues to choose to god the other one on, "poking the gorilla," so to speak.

The other one continues to choose to react, a self-defeating exercise in futility if ever there was one.

This forum doesn't need a moderator. It needs mature responsible members, including those who know well enough to stop sadistically poking the gorilla as well as those who know well enough to overlook insult>

eye95, I suggest you simply put your antagonist on ignore. That's what it's for, and it works as designed. Works wonders. You're certainly not going to change him, and this forum was often over-moderated IMHO, a trait which lead to much lower participation rates here as it invariably does on all the other forums on which I've seen over-moderation.

Effective moderation is fairly easy:
  1. Review complaints.
  2. Observe behavior.
  3. If the behavior seriously violates the rules, give one warning, along with a link to the rules. Log it.
  4. If the behavior continues, give the offender a week's vacation. Log it.
  5. If the behavior continues, give the offender a month's vacation. Log it.
  6. If the behavior continues, give the offender a year's vacation. Log it.
  7. Due to temporary IP address assignment by ISPs, as well as VPNs and other proxies, IP address banning is both ineffective as well as harmful to others who might be assigned a banned IP address. Don't use it.
  8. Coordinate Month-long bannings with the other moderators. Solicit suggestions.
  9. Coordinate Year-long bannings with both moderators and owners.

Color of Law, if you would, I respectfully request you show mature constraint and not poke the bear, er, gorilla. Same goes for everyone. First, it's not polite. Second, it's not mature. Third, it's not productive. Fourth, it degrades the overall forum, as it's a place to discuss serious 2A and OC issues.

eye95, if you would, consider turning the other cheek. If you find that difficult or impossible, I suggest you use the Ignore function to silence that which ails you.

1. I think you would be an excellent moderator.

2. I did try turning the other cheek. Dozens of times. I just kept getting slapped. It would be insanity to continue doing that and expecting the trolls to stop their repeated behavior. I do let 95% of what one of the trolls writes to go by because he really sucks at being a troll. Reacting to him would simply lend credibility to his idiocy.

Anyway, if they stop, I stop. If they behave like asses, I reserve the right to point out their behavior.

If someone starts moderating the site, I will have no need to point out their behavior to anyone other than the moderator.

Lately, from one of the two, his behavior has toned down. If this trend continues, there will be no need for me to point out any bad behavior.

Anyway, excellent post.
